Thanks, TDR Staff

does Cummins actually call the new 6.7 engine

The 3.0 has upstream (high pressure) and downstream (low Pressure) EGR. There are still conditions that require it to be pulled pre DPF.

I forgot about the upstream portion.

The current DPF's are about 99.9% effective. You should be able to wipe the inside of the tailpipe and get nothing on a clean rag. If you do it isn't operating at full efficiency.

I'm proud my exhaust pipes are clean and shiny. So I know my DPF is working as it should. :)

On the old ones you had other major design flaws that left you stranded at the side of the road, KDPs and such...

I'm looking at possibly selling my 06 4x4, with under 190,000 miles on it. But, first year anything scares me. I've been down that road before. So, I might hold off for a.year or more, until the gremlins are exposed on the new 6.7, and its newly designed CP8 injector pump. They say it is over built, but I don't believe anything that hasn't been real world tested.

Can't go wrong with doing so.

On the other hand, manufacturers generally test their vehicle much better nowadays, fearing costly Recalls about minor design flaws.
In the older days the customer was more of a paying guinea pig as today if it comes to vehicles.

I was playing around with the instrument cluster options on my truck today, it really is crazy how many screens are available. I really appreciate all of the information you can display at one time on the cluster. I had an Edge CTS2 on my old Ram to try to get this much information.

Please keep us in the.loop, with how things go with your truck.
Well so far, I can’t express enough how happy I am with my new Ram. All of the bells and whistles have a very steep learning curve, but I’m feeling very comfortable with them now. The truck drives so well and the engine/ transmission combination is what Ram really needed. No turbo lag and tons of power pulling away from a stop, you really need to be very light on the throttle to avoid wheel spin. I have driven multiple new Rams in the last few years but just never pulled the trigger.

I wanted to wait a few weeks to make sure, but I now believe the one issue I had with my new truck is repaired. Starting out from day one I had the cruse control shut off on me several times for no apparent reason. After about 180 miles I was just driving and got a chime and warning that the ABS system had been disabled, and in rapid succession several more warnings but not necessarily in this order, VSC Disabled, 4WD Disabled, Emergency Braking Disabled, Parking Sensors Disabled and maybe a few more. There were several warning lights on the dash illuminated including the check engine light. I pulled over and shut it off and then restarted it, all of the warnings went off except the check Engine light. It went off after around the 6th restart. Then several days went by with no problems, I was able to pull a code with my old scanner, U1412 implausible vehicle speed. I inspected the wheel speed sensors and wiring for damage, everything looked ok. Over the next 200 miles it happened several more times but sometimes it would skip several days and then trip several times in just a short trip.

My dealer set me up with a 2025 Jeep Wrangler Sahara to use and I took my truck into them. It was done the next afternoon but it was later in the day so I picked it up the following morning. They updated the program in the BCM the part # for the re-flash indicates it was two revisions newer. The MSO on my truck shows 3-5-2025, so I assume it was built close to that date. He also said that the DEF control module "DCU" had a re-flash also, one revision newer. The dealer couldn't tell me what the DEF re-flash was supposed to do that was different. It hasn’t used any DEF in almost 700 miles that I can measure on the gauge. To date none of the issues have reappeared in the last 300 miles.

I’m going to give it the first oil change next week as I have always changed the oil on a new engine in the first 500 to 1000 miles. Geno’s shipped out the filters I ordered on Friday. I hope this information helps someone else or answers some questions.

I've heard, on other sites, major issues with random gremlins. When it was all said and done, it was that several fuses weren't seated fully. Something to check regularly. Jeep Wranglers have that issue too. It's a part of their routine check list.

Just throwing this out there, wouldn't it be in the best interest of the selling dealer, on the PDI (Pre-Deliverary Inspection) to hook up to computer and update all software? Seeing how the systems arrive and installed could have base line software on them. The least that would need to be done is, on the way out the factory door, is to update them. JM2C.

@Terry, Thanks for the update on your truck. Now I hope that you'll be able to enjoy the seat time!

The dealership can’t charge for warranty work if they just do it as part of the new truck process.

Thanks for the heads up.
I checked the fuses in my truck before I left the house today. Every one of them was about 1/16" from being fully seated, it was very precise amount from fuse to fuse. I'm sure that the have a machine inserting them and it's not pushing them in all of the way. I drove about 200 miles on the highway today most of it at 80 mph everything went well, I averaged just under 20 mpg.
