2016 3500 SRW Cummins/Aisin 38,000 miles garage kept, like new. Been dealing with this problem for over a year and a half. Back to the dealer 10 times. Replaced throttle pedal assy and all anti lock brake and pump parts. Now the truck is back and they tell me I need a new front module wiring harness. Discontinued from Mopar. Need to repair the old harness. The truck is covered with the max care plan from Stellantis. Claim denied because the plan doesn't cover corrosion of wires. The wiring harness was completely sealed factory harness. How water could have gotten into it I have no clue as it isn't near any connectors. It is really frustrating that this is going on for so long and now to be denied the claim. I have owned many Dodge/Ram trucks since 1975 but this may be the last one. Frustrated in NJ.

They are probably getting out of it using this clause:

Repairs to a covered component where the component has been restricted by the manufacturer; repairs that are the direct result of the failure of a component that has been restricted by the manufacturer;

This is about the sleaziest clause I've seen in a warranty. Hence why I didn't opt for it when I had the chance with my EcoDiesel.

Basically if the part isn't available no more by Stellantis, you are on the hook.

In other words, they won't pay for an aftermarket part to be substituted nor the manual fix (replacing just the corroded connector).

I had a similar problem with mu 07 with the 6.7! I was on vacation with our fifthwheel and had problems with throttle pedal code. I ended up at a small dealer in iron mountain michigan and the technoberlayed new wires from the ecm to the pedal, he said there was a Star report in the system and that the wires break within the harness! Also had the AC wires do the same thing on that trip! Once the harness was overlayed i never had any more problem

Do not know if you are handy, maybe hit a junk yard for a used wiring harness section, I would think this is a plug and play(maybe not). Since there is not warranty.
Or talk with a Lawyer(that dreaded word) that deals with this type of issue.

Strange they went the path of replacing parts and did not look at the Harness(might not even be the issue) in the beginning. May not be a great shop to
work on this.

Update found a harness at another dealer in VA. Being shipped. Talking with Mopar maxcare , the only way the wiring harness is covered is a mechanical failure. What's a mechanical failure of a wiring harness?? My question to them isn't water or moisture protrusion into the insulation mechanical failure?? I'm still looking at Mopar maxcare policy, they say water protrusion/ corrosion is listed in the contract as a reason for denial. I can't find it

Nope.

Mechanical failure would be if the connector burned up for instance without signs of outside influences (water ingress or corrosion).

The Maxcare won't cover seals and hoses either. As those are considered consumables.

This is another reason why these warranties are a scam on hybrids and EVs. None of them cover the battery or the actual wiring from connector ingress of liquids or other contaminants. This is why I'll never buy one of those vehicles. Too much the manufacturer or warranty won't cover that could end up making the vehicle a heap of scrap.

I'll also point out the Maxcare warranty is an "exclusionary" type warranty. Not a service contract or insurance from outside influences. Technically, if you have comprehensive on your auto insurance for this truck, it can be covered under that.
