vp's get tired and worn out, especially with the diesel these days having less and less sulfer, no lub. no lub, parts wear faster. the vp has a hard time priming itself and the lines to the injectors, but once it does it runs fine. just like priming any pump.

sounds like the vp is tired. i recomend if you do replace to ad new lp or check to make sure lp is keeping psi up. i had to change my vp last year then again after 15k because the lp was junk, 18 psi at idle 4 at take off and 10 on freeway. installed FASS now psi is ALWAYS at 18-20. vp still...
great info thanks, shes got 255k miles, did some hot laps up and down the road today, psi drops to 12 from launch to 3rd gear then goes back up to 18 but never over 25 even just cruising. i did not realize the psi needed to be that high, my 24v would have a harder time starting with any thing...
heavy loads injection pump seems to wimper out, pulling and racing, wont tack out. im thinking it is not getting enough fuel, psi stays around 20 at filter, but who knows what the gpm's are? i just dont trust those 1/4" stock fuel lines. thinking about the FASS, i love it on my 24v. or maybe...
