Roadking I dont have any pictures but I'll try to get a couple and post. The crossmember is directly below and toward the front of the oilpan. Forrest has a good point in that I hacked apart the structure of my pickup. If one consider doing such a thing they should use extreme caution. I've...
Yep, cut as in severe. With a sawzall and impact the oil pan was in the floor in about 4 minutes. Ok the sawzall did have a new blade. I'm not what you call AR.
Sorry for your trouble. In 2007 the same thing happened to my 04. Seat fell out on #5 and bent two valves and got the piston. Thankfully it didn't get the cylinder wall. Seat and valves were about $20 aftermarket with the Cummins only piston and rings about $140. The dumb Cummins only gasket kit...
Exactly. Well sorta. The brackets will be welded to the cross member, on either end of the pieces that gets cut out and also to the part of the cross member that will still be welded to the frame. Won't actually weld on the frame rail.
I had an off and on ticking noise over several days. The ticking quite when the exhaust valve seat finally fell out. The noise became more of a hammering sound at that point.
Update
The problem was an exhaust valve seat fell out on #5 cylinder. Bent the two exhaust valves and battered the piston. The piston isn't that bad but it had a small crack on the edge which made it inelgible for reuse IMO. So, two new valves and a seat = 25. 00, head gasket kit = 186. 49...
Thanks for your input
Thank you for your input. I appreciate it. The more I read and hear the more I think it must be an injector. Here is the plan. I will find someone to check out these nozzles. Do they spray, do the solenoids work etc etc. I will scope the cylinders to make sure nothing is...
I assumed that the screwed up valve would have a little taller spring looking from the top side after the rocker arms were off. That could be a 50/50 proposition.
My 04 developed a slight tapping sound and a miss. The tap and the miss would go away after a few miles. This happened twice a couple of days apart which made me think a valve was sticking or maybe an injector was trying to plug. The second time was like the first and it went away after a few...
Thanks for the ideas. The pickup sat saturday night through this morning. Started normal today and ran good all day. No tapping. Go figure. It did sound like a gasser lifter tap... maybe alittle louder. Would a check engine light come on if it were an injector? No matter, I guess we will have...
I got in my 04 3500 to come home tonight and notice the Cummins had developed a slight miss and a distinct tapping sound. The tapping got faster as the rpms increase. Injector? Valve? EdgeAttitude? I weighed about 28000 and could noticed a loss of power at the begining of the drive home...
The rear clearance lights on the drivers side wont light on my 04 dually. Stop and turn work as do all of the trailer lights, stop, turn, clearance. The "lamp out" light on the dash does not light unless one of the bulbs is removed. The bulbs are good. The fuse under the hood is good. The...
