Grease fitting
This U Joint is like a double Cardan joint with a ball and socket shaft coupling in the center of the joint. This ball and socket is what gets greased, not the yoke bearings. If you look carefully into the yoke openings closest to the rear of the assembly you will see a needle...
I put the expensive "in tank" kit in my 98. 5. The wiring harness was somewhat complicated but did not require any wiring to be cut that I recall and it worked OK for a short time but fuel pressure dropped again. I got an original equipt type pump from NAPA and installed it in series with the in...
Quote:3 - The regen process is accomplished by adding fuel to the exhaust and burning the accumulated material leaving ash that is blown out.
The ash is not blown out. It accumulates and is the reason the DPF must eventually be cleaned / replaced.

I have noted that with sunglasses on I can't read the display when heading towards the sun. Not as bad with regular glasses. Seems to me it is caused by glare or sun reflecting off the dash. Sure is annoying.

According to the link Matt posted (thanks, Matt), GVW over 8500 lb vehicles are exempt. That is good news. How long that will be true is up to the socialist legislature.
WARNING!!!!! For all CA residents considering engine/exhaust system mods. Beginning Jan 1, 2010, all your diesel trucks will be subject to mandatory smog checks, just like gassers have been for years. AB 1488 was passed through the legislature and the governator signed it. It requires all...
I recently completed a 6000 mile trip to Memphis TN towing 10K. Went up I 25 from Albuquerque into CO. Encountered some steep grades. Always kept E Brake on. I got the best performance leaving it in D and engaging Tow Haul on freeway on ramps. With cruize set at 65 MPH, Trans would downshift as...
I have changed oil twice in 11,000 miles. Oil change reqd message appeared at about 3000 miles. Changed oil and reset. All of these miles except 1200 mi drive home from dealer are SOCAL around town. Message appeared again after a 6000 mile trip towing 10K at 10000 miles. Changed it and reset...
I have11,153 trouble free miles on my truck now. (No computer flashes done yet) We just returned to Ca from a 5956 mile (GPS) trip to Memphis Tn with stops in Co, KS, OK towing a 10,000 lb high profile 5er.

I ran my VIN on that website and got the same results you did - no issues. My truck has also been running just fine with no problems at all with 2670 miles on the clock.

My understanding of the fuel / air relationship in diesel engines is that you can stuff as much air in it as possible all the time and regulate power / acceleration by controlling fuelling. Unlike gas engines which require a (14 to 1?)fixed fuel / air ratio for proper combustion. There should...
Wolfy, I was unfortunately given a "first edition" owners manula also, which does not even mention the 6. 7 L engine / 68RFE. A call to the dealer and a third edition manual was overnighted to me with apologies. The third edition manual does not supply nearly as much info on the emissions system...
