    Case drops 5.9?

Is Case dropping the CDC 5. 9 in favor of the New Holland 7. 5 in their midrange tractors? All the new specs that I see don't appear to include the 5. 9. Seems like only AGCO is still using the 5. 9. Maybe a response to keep up with Deere, but I liked the high-output 5. 9, could hold its own...

    cummins is defecting!

Aww, c'mon now, don't shortchange Cummins in their V series. Have run plenty of Cummins, have a V-6 irrigation unit on the farm that held its own 24/7 flooding 300 acres of rice while the B5. 9 was being rebuilt. I trust Cummins in their V-6 venture, cause the one I have came out of a mudboat...

    Other applications of ISB motors

Don't forget stationary power units. I have a couple of 12 valves on the farm doing irrigation duty. Yes they aren't ISBs but Cummins is marketing the QSBs to the same market and I wouldn't hesitate buying one (or more). My uncle is a Cummins distributor, but has also recently signed up with...

    Cummins Marine is amazing

Exactly, I like that thought! Yeah these things are incredible at WOT, kind of like a caged tiger, except the cage feels like a wet paper sack, scared to think of the potential they have! Yet another project, these babies deserve a proper home!:D

    Cummins Marine is amazing

Thanks for the informative replies. Yeah its definitely recreational, they're pushing a 65-foot aluminum houseboat. And yes, the 903s were probably overkill for this application, even though its a big boat, its fairly light, and shallow draft. True, the 903s are probably never working near their...

    Cummins Marine is amazing

Got a boat with twin 370hp Cummins 903ci V8 diesels (former tugboat engines), and was thinking about re-powering. Not that the 903 V8s were a problem, just thinking about size-reduction and maintenance concerns later (903s are HUGE, duh). I find it amazing (or maybe I should expect) that Cummins...

Hit a deer, plastic bumper cover damaged

Saw the deer about 200 yards away, put the brakes on, deer was trotting along the road, slowed down to about 20mph when I got up on her, then sure enough, she decided the best escape was to dive under my bumper! I don't think I hurt her too much, looked like I bruised her hindquarters pretty...

    Verify or Deny?

That wouldn't be good news if true. I looked into a TDI a couple months ago and all the literature says TDI is still available in Golf, Jetta, Jetta Wagon, and Beetle. Salesman didn't mention anything, but anytime you mention Diesel, they're thinking "special order, no sale today", even had one...

    No More PowerStroke

The ONLY reason Ford and Chevy are using V-8 diesels is MARKETING. Unless they have a name like Cummins/Cat/Deere on it, they couldn't give away any I-6 they designed in-house. The average truck buyer over the years has been brainwashed into the notion that to upgrade power, you gotta get a V-8...

    underhood paint wear?

Anyone else had underhood paint wear-thru? Just noticed mine on the seal near the windshield where the gasket contacts the underside of the hood. Wonder if this is unique to the Cummins trucks due to vibration, or if Dodge has it in general. If so, seems like this would be covered by warranty...

    4x4 2500 vs 3500 height?

Thanks for the replies, yeah this truck was flame red like mine, which is what caught my eye, saw it on I-20 just west of Shreveport. I think you're right too about the optical illusion, when its that close its hard to tell. thanks again JD

    4x4 2500 vs 3500 height?

Just wondering, passed a 3500 4x4 on the interstate the other day and it looked to be about 2 inches higher than my 2500 4x4 on a level road. Was wondering if the 3500 4x4s come from the factory with a taller suspension up front? This 3500 4x4 also looked level, as compared to my 2500 4x4 that...

    "Wait to Start" time?

Lately here in North Texas, the temp has flucuated from near freezing to 70 degrees, so I've usually been hooking up the block heater overnight. But a few times at work or elswhere forgot to let the light go out before starting and see lots of white smoke on startup. I've noticed after unhooking...

    30K mile report on 2001 24V

Nothing special really to report here, just wanted to say passed the 30K mile mark on my 2001 24 valver and everything is fine. I might regret these words later, but so far looks like I have a good solid build. Only thing I had it back for is the "hard hot restart" computer TSB upgrade, and an...

    Cummins Marine 8T370 engines

Parents just purchased a big houseboat with a pair of Cummins 8T370 engines. Didn't have time to check out the engine plate or serial #s, but was wondering, is this basically a marine version of the 903ci V-8 or the old 555ci V-8? I noticed that Cummins Marine does not offer a 8T370 anymore...
