Problem with a Ford.

Fuel Filters $$$

They've made a few V-8s but non have been that great. IMO

You might want to sit down for this next one.

They are developing a V-6 for the light duty market. ;) For small trucks and SUVs. This is what I've heard at least.

I like my I-6, it maybe under powered (as Furd boys say) and a old design (as the Cheby boys say) but I still like it. ;) :-laf :-laf

Hey! were did that Furd and Cheby go that was behind me?

Ouh! that's right I went up hill. :D

I run one of those about 25 years ago in a semi truck and I bet Cummins is ashamed they ever made one. About as worthless as the old Detroit V8.

Yea, but those Detroit's sure could smoke, couldn't they. Even tho it was blue smoke. :p

The Detroit Diesel is the most efficient means ever developed to turn diesel fuel in noise. :D :D

Hey....

Those old Detriots were phenominal engines. Every charter bus trip I drove with one made it's own oil! My next pre-trip inspection always showed at least a gallon more oil in the pan than what I started with. FUEL BABY! What junk!

Don't be surprised to see Cummins slip back into V configured diesel engine production - as long as EPA and other evironmentalists continue to mandate various conditions that drive diesel operation still further up the RPM curve for best efficiency - it will eventually be almost NECESSARY to use V configurations to best implement those parameters... :(

You don't think the engine came out of that Fire Truck in the background do you? Only thing throwing off my guess is that it was rebuilt by the U. S. Army.

Sort of funny belt lineup on the alternator. Any idea what the

device on the valve cover is? No turbo.

Aww, c'mon now, don't shortchange Cummins in their V series. Have run plenty of Cummins, have a V-6 irrigation unit on the farm that held its own 24/7 flooding 300 acres of rice while the B5. 9 was being rebuilt. I trust Cummins in their V-6 venture, cause the one I have came out of a mudboat, was severely abused and is still counted on as backup to keep from losing serious money when the I-6s have a hiccup. Also, have a pair of 903s (8T-370s) on a big houseboat that have given more reliable service, unlike the Westerbeke and Onan generators onboard. Don't get me wrong, I love the I-6s, have an 855, 505, and 2 B5. 9s, plus the truck ISB, and have had the Versatile and Steigers running 855s and they have been great and would take them over the V series any day, mainly because of ease of maintenance and rebuild, just less stuff to mess with and get around.

The V-903 was/is junk. The VT-903 is a little better. The Coast Guard has a lot of them still in service in the 41 foot boats. I still don't like a V configuration diesel.

"The VT-903 is a little better".

Thanks Alan and good morning.

I used to run a number of them. Most users were not satisfied at that time (late 70's early 80's). We changed a few things and were very satisfied (after the changes).
