I have looked for other leaks, but have not found any. All other fluids are up.
Again, it does not show up under regular use, just when towing. When initially parked after towing, you can clearly see oil dripping from the vent hose.
So a couple of years ago, my 06 Mega Cab (198,000 miles) started spitting oil out of the crankcase vent. It began on a trip through Washington state, pulling a heavy trailer up many steep passes. EGTs were high for most of the trip, but still under the danger zone. Oil coated the trailer and my...
Hello all,
Here at work, we have a 2005 2500 4X4 quad-cab short bed.
Since it was new, it always had a CEL with the code for "fan clutch".
We had the fan clutch replaced twice, but the light still comes on.
We have cleared the codes several times, but it STILL comes back...
I bought a 2006 2500 Mega Cab (repo) a couple of years ago.
It had 70K on the clock and was completely stock.
As soon as I got it home, I added the obligatory tuner, boost fooler, and intake.
The truck now has 160K on it, and the last 90K was spent at around 450hp/1000lb-ft.

Apply some heat with a butane mini-torch and they will come right out. The factory put some decent thread-lock compound on them. Don't forget to re-apply thread lock when you install the new bolts.

Tell Carter Doolittle that $2700 is a lot of money..... Well, at least to most of us. He's selling his house: Beautiful brick Estate style home with grand lake view - eBay (item 220338972716 end time Feb-02-09 10:13:56 PST) Good luck. I hope you get your repairs covered.
New front shaft is in, and THIS one has the tiny grease fitting for the cardigan ball. Decided to wait on the one piece shaft until I do a few other things. 3 new Precision greasables went into the rear. Rear-most was falling apart, center and front were nearly dry. Hope you guys have torches...
Actually, Mag Chloride is far cheaper than sand... ... Plus, if it's applied properly, it will last for a week. I grew up just north of Pittsburgh, and I'd hate to see corrosion like THAT again... .
OUCH... ... I like to add a couple of gallons of B100 (from a certified source) to a tankful... . It probably winds up at about 1%, but more lube than the previous "low sulfur" (500ppm) fuel.
Now we get ULSD at 15ppm, and the bureaucrats figure that there won't be any difference in the lube...
I ordered my Quadzilla Boost Fooler from Thoroughbred Diesel... . Price was right: $67. 99 on sale, shipped free.
Truck is a 2006 2500 HD Mega Cab 4X4 automatic. Mods: K&N cold air intake. Tuner is a PPE Xcelerator set on stage 2 (+155 HP and +235 Ft Lbs claimed)
Install: It took longer...
I have a 2006 2500HD Mega Cab 4X4 automatic. My drivetrain is vibrating, and at least one of the U-joints is starting to squeak (rear). Front shaft is shot and will be replaced. My question is: Will the one-piece rear driveshaft from a 2008 MegaCab fit my truck?? I have read that it will, and...
