$2000+ for Banks power pak III and most of it is getting trashed. Just didn't perform well enough for towing. Gonna follow the TDR mods and use PDR recomendations!!! I just need a little more for towing - approx 225hp.
Shook my brains out for 115k. Had the 2000$ front end rebuild done, 3 sets of new tires with balancing done at various places and rim centering with four centering nuts. I was about to get a new truck but sticker shock said try one last time. Off to Walmart for 4 new tires on a dually, the guy...
Sounds good on the collar, I assume this is done with the engine running??? Thanks for what to look for on the idle float !! I have max 19 PSI boost and 1100* EGT at WOT/loaded. Empty 19 PSI and 900* EGT. I trying for max sustained 1200 *-1300* EGT. The waste-gated turbo came from Bank's and...
Now then, is this adjustment considered the STAGE 1 "Modest adjustments of the injection pump"?? or are there others at this stage??? How does this tie in to the other forum thread that indicates "over-adjustment of the full-load screw results in high idle and eventual erratic governor...
Trying to gain an understanding!!!!! You more-or-less turn the full fuel screw in till the idle increases???? Then back off the low idle screw??? This should result in some black smoke at some point???? What do you do about the collar on the fuel screw??? Can you unscrew it to cut the...
If in doubt, replace it!!! I just replace mine. I can hear it kick on about the halfway mark on the temp gauge. It sporadically kick on/off before. Didn't check the bi-metal spring, but there was reseudial oil stains around the inner core. It just time for a fan clutch change.
New fan/fan hub installed. 'chirp'on shut down is back and I hear the fan kicking in when the temps get up. Temps still up, but the fan now cools it down within reason. Next I'm going to pop the grill and thoroughly clean the a/c coil. If all else fails, replace the temp sensor!!!!!
Duh, I...
Never thought about using a feeler gauge to clean the a/c unit. I'll do that. It was running warmer than normal before the pump was turned up. So I stopped fuel mods to work on the over heat problem. Once this is solved, gonna work on getting the EGTs to the back off point!!!!!! Don't know...
Sounds like fan hub and fan replacement. Ordered!!! Now that you mentioned it - I haven't the familiar 'chirp' on shut down in a long time!!!! Guess I needed a new radiator anyway. I'll have the new fan/hub assembly on in a few days and I'll post the results.
At 65+, 20 psi boost, 1100* EGT, pulling a heavy load, my temps reach the 3/4 temp gauge mark. Radiator, therostat, hoses replaced. At idle and lower speeds, temps are less than the halfway mark. Any ideas???? on what to replace next?????
