I would check the lift pump on the side of the filter housing. sounds like it isn't pulling fuel to the cp3 pump. Should set a code but no light.

The clicking sound is there with any common rail cummins when the key is turned on to acc. The injector solenoids cycle and will eventually time out if you leave the key on long enough. No big deal, don't panic.

It does sound like an injector failed. I have replaced two '03 engines for this problem. The solenoid on the top of the injector cracks where it is bonded to the injector and fills the crankcase with fuel in a hurry. You will notice it on your tailgate going down the road from it blowing fuel...
