The kicker for me was I HAD a great mechanic before: actually a personal friend of mine who did great work. Then I moved 250 miles away for work.
Then three weeks ago, I was told that I am going to move AGAIN. From Maine to New Hampshire (now) to Minnesota (summer 07).
Hard to build a...
Well I thought so too Ryan. I mean, the thing never made a peep (I guess it could be hard to hear over the clatter of a diesel), and I have had idlers go before on TBI chevy SB & BB engines. I am just going to have to get a better look at the thing when I get back into town on Thursday & get it...
You are a lucky guy my friend...
I should have dumped it when the lift pump went after 4 months of ownership.
Problem is I have no one else to trust right now in the "HD" truck market: Ford's 6. 0 sux (a CTD in a FoMoCo I would like), and a chevy truck is well... . a chevy CAR: they...
The thing that kills me about it, is I have done things to it based on plans for keeping the thing until I was an old man.
I put powersteps on it, nice 19. 5 alloys, and serviced it regularly. I gave this truck every chance to be a great truck, and never asked anything of it outside of it's...
So, I have had this 03 CTD SO for a little over a year now, and here is the list of what has plagued me with this truck:
- grab handle @ 23K miles (paid by DC)
- CD player crapped out @ 24K (DC)
- lifter pump @ 30K miles (paid by DC)
- PS pump failed @ 32K miles (DC)
- U-joints F&R on...
Mine is Big Red or BRD^3 aka big red dodge dually diesel
Oh, and do you go by Yooper as your place of birth?
Marquette boy here, just living elsewhere now
Shane
So finally got the rims and skids on.
Story:
On Wednesday, I bring in the truck, and go with the wife to take care of some other business with her (she was getting a new to her Murano). While sitting in the financial officer's office at the dealer, I get the call:
"This is Marco at...
Went to the tire shop here in town, as my 17s look like drag slicks.
I asked about 19. 5s, and they had a guy just back out of a deal, resulting in a custom ordered set of rims and tires with a big chuck already paid.
Am getting installed, mounted, balanced, etc out the door:
Don...
I have the HD argent grey bumper on my 03 Dually.
Really like it, and haven't seen rust happen yet (only been a year though)
Cheapest I found was http://www.4buy4.com/warn_heavydutybumpers1.htm
They were $300 cheaper than everyone else, and it is free shipping.
My $0. 02

So Tomey, how does one get their mits on one of those big horns from your bag of tricks?
:D
Would like a couple sets up here in Maine on my big rig
That, or a P/N
I have an 03 Ram CTD with a Warn HD bumper on the front, and it has more nose-down profile as a result.
Is there anyway to find out from the VIN if I have the HD front springs, or the Super HD front springs?
Are there longer springs that will bring the front up but not make it ride...
how do you check this?
I have some wierd rattles, and it is going to the dealer on Monday.
They don't seem to "find" stuff unless I tell them where to look
I am trying to scrape together the cash to get a Hauler Classic from these guys
http://www.truckranch.net/
The Hauler classic as it appears in these ads are ~ 5-6K with a lined deck, under boxes, paint, and installed.
I have spoke with them about it, and they are also willing to...
I can attest to their rating.
I have had 500 lbs on them, and never felt they were going to fail.
My MIL has really bad knees (knee surgury gone awry) and she uses it heavily to get in the truck.
I got the AMP ones (through Bestop) and have been totally satisfied with them.
Only...
