I'm in the middle of this swap myself on the 99. The lil sport mirror are furniture now, you could salvage the electrical connector but I'm going to use heat shrinkable quick connectors. You must buy a set of 99 manual tow mirrors and a pair of 03-06 power/heat tow mirrors. I bought both pairs...
Mine and my buddys 04's CD ended of being replaced on warranty during the first year. The symptoms you described were the same as ours when they started to go.
Just purchased a Work&Play from Forrest River. I pull with the 99 dually in 'off-road' situations and with the 5th wheel box clearance can be an issue. On my old trailer, I simply had the axles flipped over the spring for about a 4" lift... . worked great. The new trailer apparently has torsion...
This sounds like the problem to me... I adjust the dial on mine all the time, low seeting in town and crank it up on the highway, so the trailer brakes aren't jamming on at every stoplight. If you adjust it enough the brakes will barely come on but using the slider I believe over rides the low...
My Voltmeter has done this since new... truck is idling (cold) and the headlights dim with the dips in the meter... other trucks I've seen in this generation have same perk... all has been checked and never had any problems.
Quick question in regards to the shifter knob... is there a trick to getting it off? I've kinda tried by hand with no results. Haven't tried too hard in case I bugger it up.
