    Seeking BC Rvers

I live on Vancouver Island and can get you any campsite information you want or need. I am 50' long (1997 Dodge CC, Long Box, Hitch and 27E Arctic Fox (28' 11")). I just came got back to the island and my cost was about $280 (3 adults) - I can look up the exact amount if you like. How long...

    Alaska bound questions

We were in Alaska this July with my truck and trailer. It was the start of a 4 month trip for us. I used to work along the Stewart Cassiar Highway (Highway 37 - runs from Highway 16 to the Alaska Highway) and we have family at the south end so that is the route we took. They are working on the...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) I need a power recipe for my 98' 2500 4wd

I just ran my '97 at BD's Dyno days and got 270 HP. Mine is a 5 speed so it started with more horsepower but all mine has had is the timing adjusted, the fuel plate adjusted, 4" exhaust and an AFE Stage 1 air filter. I also had the gauges installed so I don't burn it up when I am towing. I also...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Truck "empty" weight

My stock (oem fuel tank / tires etc. ) 97 CC was #6995 with 3/4 tank, canopy and me. So I guess #6820.

Towing with 2 wd pros and cons

I like my 4X4 for towing and will likely never be without one. About 80% of my truck milage is towing. I pulled into one campsite that was on a sandbar between two lakes. We were assigned a site and we drove around to it and as I pulled through the site I felt the backend of the truck start to...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Where to purchase sport headlight assemblies?

So to do it right you need to buy the headlights (2 bulb configuration) from HeadlightDepot and sport light conversion from SUVLights - right? RossCo

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Headlights

I always watch the light conversions as well. When I got my truck new in '97 it was not long before I realized that the lighting was inadequate, I could not see ahead of me but I could see everything in the ditch. I added a set of Bosch Pilot Driving lights (with 100 watt bulbs - I keep the...

$590.00 fine yesterday for not enough license

Trip through US This has been a great thread to watch. I am planning a long trip, much of it will be through the states (I live in Canada). I am just about to buy a heavier trailer but nothing over 10,000#. The problem is I have a '97 4X4 2500 with the 3. 56 rear end. My GCWR is...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Boost Gauge really Necessary?

I have one now - I wish I had one sooner. I had a line to the turbo go. I had no power. The nimrods at 3 different dealerships could not figure it out. they replaced the fuel filter and checked all the fuel lines - no joy. I spent over $300 before they found the line that was blown - it was less...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Nv4500;

I thought the problem was if you towed in 5th and let the revs run below 1700 (or lugged the engine while towing in 5th). More than 1/2 of my mileage is towing. I had the nut on mine welded when the clutch was done, 80,000 miles (the stock clutch had issues because of adjusted fuel plate and...

    Best equipped towing rig

I bought my 97 5 speed new for towing the 22 foot 5er I had at the time. I now tow a 22 trailer and have added gauges (boost and pre turbo pyro), Prodigy, AFE Stage 1, 4 inch exhaust and SouthBend 450 hp clutch. The fuel plate has been adjusted and the 5th gear nut has been welded. I added...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Need a NV4500 back-up switch connector

I think this might be my problem as well. I thought it was the shifter fork not pushing hard enough on the switch to turn on the lights. When I jumped the pins the lights came on - I have a brand new switch that has been tested. I guess I will now check the connector. Thanks

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Back-up Lights

Dave M My next questions are if I disconnect the connector from the transmission switch do I need the diode? (Since the problem is not the switch or the lights I am just going to by-pass the whole problem and force it. ) I guess you ran the wires up from the boot but I could not get the panel...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Back-up Lights

Thanks everyone for the replies, especially the pictures. I am going to try to wire a switch in the cab. The lights work when triggered manually and the transmission switch works in another truck. The problem seems to be with the fork on the shifter not pushing the switch hard enough to trigger...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Back-up Lights

I have had a problem with my back-up lights for a while. ('97,5sp, 4X4, extended cab) When I put it in reverse the back-up lights don't come on. The truck has been in the shop a couple of times. The first time the transmission switch was taken out, cleaned and confirmed that it was...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Thinking ahead...exhaust brake?

I have the same type of question but I am wondering about the turbo mounted or the remote exhaust brakes. I have a '97, 5 speed. In the near future I will be getting a larger trailer and want an exhaust brake. I may want to upgrade the turbo after that. I don't want to put on a 3" exhaust brake...
