    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel Lift Pump Replacement

Changing the LP is not as hard as it looks. Do it from the topside. Loosen your "gas cap" so there is no pressure in the system. You shouldn't lose much fuel at all. Skip the unplugging of the fuel line and just undo the 2 banjo bolts and electrical connector. I've done 2 of 'em and they are not...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Rebuilding Injectors

Bosch 275's are a good bang for the buck. Not 100hp but economical both to buy and fuel wise. Like Blacksheep says DDP's are popular. Most agree simple cleaning or rebuilding shouldn't be necessary unless you have a LOT of miles or the engine is running badly.

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) help!!! air leak from silver plate under injector lines

I get the idea that the stock fuel filter is no longer there. The bolts need to be replaced since that silver plate is the top of the intake manifold. If you didn't blow out the gasket you can probably replace the bolts with some sealant on the threads and be OK. If you blew out the gasket its a...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) FASS question

My Fass did not come with a draw tube. I just cut the stock line from the tank and hooked it up to the FASS with a piece of 3/8" hose. Works jus fine.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Install lift pump idiot light

The question was answered. Where can I get the banjo bolt or is there another way to hook up the pressure switch?

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Valve adjustments

Here is a idea that make valve cover removal and installation really easy and costs around a buck. Get a 1/2" street el from the hardware store and put it between the head and heater hose.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Crossmember surprise

Here is a photo for the folks that are wondering what we are talking about. You can see the taper of the frame where the crossmember sits. It is ahead of the transfer case. The rear crossmember looking thing is the rear support for the skid plate. You can see a hole in the frame just behind...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Crossmember surprise

I had the same thoughts about the crossmember when I changed my clutch. Take a second look at where the crossmember sits in the frame. That area has a slight V shape to it. The crossmenber is supposed to be wider at the top. It takes a bit of wrestling to get that thing back in past the...

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Help, coolant on my head bolts

Thanks for the response. I been in the process of pullin' the head off this afternoon. Looks like Cometic is not a good choice so I been thinking about the marine 12V gasket and doing the mods myself if I can't find one ready to install from somewhere.
  12. Easier valve cover removal

    Easier valve cover removal

I modified the coolant supply fom the head to the heater core by using a 1/2" NPT Street EL and a 1/2" NPT to 5/8" hose adapter. This has provided additional clearance for valve cover removal. I'm actually in the process of removing the head to replace the leaking head gasket...

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Help, coolant on my head bolts

Well, I started to install ARP head studs tonight and the first head bolt that came out has coolant all over it. Is this normal? I don't see any reference to the head bolts going into the water jacket and I expected the bolt to be dry. The engine has ran good and no sign of coolant in the oil...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Clean your radiator

Hi Fred, I just got back from the car wash with it and couldn't believe how much came out of that thing. It was caked all the way through. Ya got to feel better knowing all that gunk is gone even if the temp gauge doesn't know any better. Glenn

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Best place to puchase VP44?

If that Special X you are refering too is from Blue Chip, I bought one and have no regrets about spending the extra money. I have also done business with mwfi (turbo, injectors) and they will continue to be on my prefered supplier list.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Strange problem with SBC CON-OFE

Gary, Clutch was a complete kit with a new flywheel, bearing, bolts, etc. I didn't think to look at the bolt head to see what grade they were since they came with the clutch. I am a little bit of a perfectionist and am kinda interested in what caused Ken's problem for future reference. The...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Strange problem with SBC CON-OFE

Gary, What you said is why I have some concern. My SBC instructions said 20 ft lbs on the pressure plate to flywheel bolts. At 20 I still had a gap so went to 25 ft lbs. Still a small gap so on to 30 before the pressure plate seated to the flywheel. I did snug 'er down evenly alternating the...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Strange problem with SBC CON-OFE

Ken, Sounds like you found the problem. I appreciate if you let us know how the fix works out. I just put on of those clutches in my truck a few weeks back. So far I am very satisfied with it. Glenn
