In addition to the other suggestions made here, IMHO I would focus on the UL rating of the safe. If your budget allows, look for something rated at TL15 at a minimum. Good luck w/ your purchase.

All,
Thanks for the info and the PMs on the 2013s and the DEF and DPF but at this point I think I'll keep my 2007 for a little while longer. Let the 3. 42 gear debate continue!
All,,
Thanks for clearing this up for me. The salesman was a nice enough guy but clearly more geared towards the transactions side of the house then the product knowledge side of the house. I thought no DPF sounded too good to be true.
From what I'm reading here the DEF significantly reduces...
2013 owners, I need your help.
Does a 2013 2500 have a diesel particulate filter AND the diesel exhaust fluid? This is probably an obvious answer but... I'm considering trading my 2007 2500 for a 2013 2500 and went to the dealership to shop around. The salesman told me the diesel exhaust...
A lot of folks think I'm over reacting when I suggest that they should, at minimum, have some type of cold weather gear, water and non-perishable food in their car, but the OPs experience reinforces my point. If he hadn't come along the girls could have had a big problem on their hands...
I have a similar set-up and I have tightened the screws hand tight and have no problem w/ the screws loosening. Somewhat off topic, but, I also spread a very thin layer of white lythium (sp?) grease on the contact area to displace any sweat/moisture from settleing between the side-saddle and...
When I was looking for rims the advice that I got was to stay w/ OEM back space because Dodges are not forgiving of too little back space when it comes to tire rub w/ 35 inch tires.
I don't know if that is true or not but I went w/ 17 x 8. 5 rims w/ 6 inch back space w/ 34 inch tires and I...
I've just recently started using Virgil Tripp's Cobra mags. (8 round) and so far they have worked well. That having been said, I've used Wilson 8 rounders for years with no problems.
I was in a similar situation when I bought my tires. I went w/ the 285/75R17 AT's E rated and at the end of the day I think that was a better choice for me over the MT's 'cuz 95% of my driving is on the pavement. The AT's handle nicely in wet weather and very light/wet snow. I have not taken the...
I have the same set-up w/ Toyo AT's and I noticed a night and day difference in handling. I'm very happy w/ it so far. I have to say I wish I got the 2. 0 set-up. When the cash allows for it I'll up-grade.
Good luck and enjoy.
I'm no expert on wheel hop but I had traction bars on my '67 Camaro and that helped plant the rear tires on hard acceleration from a stop. I did not have "slapper' bars. I don't remember the correct name for them but mine mounted to the axle and then bolted via a bracket to the front of the leaf...
You're absolutely right. It is definitely slower to get to the ready if it is locked in the toolbox. I wanted to point out the Penal code issue 'cuz I would hate to see someone who is trying to be responsible get arrested and have their pistol destroyed (in California anyway)for unkowingly...
RideSlow,
Not to get into your lane but have you checked the Penal code for transporting weapons in your state? In California a center console/glove box is a "no go" for transporting a weapon. Locked in a toolbox in the bed is good to go.

I did not have that link when I was trying to find out the OEM weight rating. I asked a couple of the local (San Jose, CA) dealership parts dept's and no one knew the answer. The best explanation that I've heard so far is that if the OEM tires are rated at 3195lbs @ 80 psi then the OEM...
