What is location of gooseneck hitch ball in your shortbed truck?

I have a 2010 2500 with a 6'8" box. I am trying to find an enclosed car hauler that clears the cab without hitch extensions or adapters. Most of the tapered nose trailers narrow down to a 6' front face, but that still won't clear my cab. My current hitch installation (uni-goose) has the hitch...

Longest "safe" gooseneck trailer length for SRW

Then I guess that answers my question. If weights are ok (they are) then length isn't so important. I am comfortable with it, I've been pulling goosenecks and tags up to 40' for twenty years, but nothing over 40' yet. I had heard from word of mouth that it would be too much lateral force (on a...

Longest "safe" gooseneck trailer length for SRW

Does anyone have information regarding rules (or rules of thumb) for maximum safe trailer length? There is plenty on weight capacity and tongue weight for our trucks but there seems to be little information regarding length. I have a 2010 single rear wheel 2500 with Airlift bags in the rear. I...

Towing instability with new OE Firestone 20"

I switched because the truck needed new tires and these 20's fell into my lap for a good price. And they look much better, IMO the tiny 17's look ridiculous under this truck. I am starting to think it is the trailer level, thanks for the suggestion. The truck definitely sits higher unloaded...

Towing instability with new OE Firestone 20"

I have been towing my ~11,000 tag trailer since 2010 when I bought my 2500 RAM truck, using the stock 17" BFG tires. The trailer pulls like a dream up to speeds over 80 mph in just about any weather condition. This is why I bought a RAM:) I recently bought a set of 2014 takeoff 20" rims with...

Exhaust rusted off at 47k miles?

Awesome. Salt. Because no one in the US encounters that. I plan to ditch it all once warranty is up, but I'm a ways from there now. It looks like getting a 2014 is my only option at this point:)

What tires do you guys like for hualing heavy loads?

Good call on the speed rating. They vary between 106 and 112 for the ones I have investigated. You're the third person that suggested the Terra Grappler, Seems that is the front runner at this point.

Exhaust rusted off at 47k miles?

The dealer told me it was not covered, and wanted $250 for a new muffler which is not even the issue. That's why I am asking here. Moving out of the rust belt would solve a LOT of my problems!!!:)

Exhaust rusted off at 47k miles?

Hello all, The exhaust has rusted and fallen apart on my 2010 with about 47k miles. It is not going to be as simple as putting a new DEF-back pipe on, as the exit pipe from the DEF is also rusted and crumbling so attaching will be tough. As an emissions issue, shouldn't this be covered by my...

What tires do you guys like for hualing heavy loads?

I am replacing my OEM tires on my 2010 CTD and want to get something a bit more aggressive than what came on the truck. However, I tow at least 10k miles a year, my tag trailer is about 11,000 lbs loaded plus a bed full of equipment. There are some favorites on the forum that people recommend...

2014 Laramie wheels and tires. For sale or trade.

Nevermind...missed the "last set is sold" post. But are the patterns the same for future reference?

2014 Laramie wheels and tires. For sale or trade.

Are the bolt patterns the same for my 2010 Ram 2500? I assumed so but someone (unreliable) told me otherwise. I need a newer set as well. Thanks!

    Wheel speed sensor code C103D

2010 Ram 2500 6.7L 42k miles I started the truck up yesterday and was blessed with ABS, BRAKE, and SERV 4WD lights. I plugged in a scan tool and I have an intermittant C103D code, rear wheel speed sensor fault. I took a trace while driving around and both rear WSS are dropping out...

    engine block heater

Where is the cord? I've been looking for it and can't locate it. It's too damn cold to crawl around in there for too long:)

Max recommended trailer length for a SRW

What's a Henley hitch? I have a una-goose, it's rated at 10k# downpressure and 40k# towing weight... seems more than enough. And what's a max brake? Sounds interesting...

Max recommended trailer length for a SRW

That makes sense. With living quarters and the water tanks full up front I'll have to weigh the pin and see if there's enough to balance the car in the back... Thanks Robert.

Max recommended trailer length for a SRW

Thanks for the responses, guys. This thread isn't about the trailer weight, I asked about that in another thread and got the answers I needed (I think from Harvey :) ). This is specifically about the "tail wagging the dog" situation mentioned above. I should have said in my OP "assuming I keep...

    Gooseneck towing capability

According to the Ram brochure, my specific truck can handle a payload of 2500 lbs and a GCVW of 20,000 lbs. So I need to confirm that the pin weight is 2500 or less and the trailer weight is roughly the same or less than the number above. I'll have to weigh the truck full of gas and gear and see...

Max recommended trailer length for a SRW

Assuming I keep within the payload and GCVW ratings of the truck, in your experience, what is the maximum "safe" enclosed trailer length that can be towed with a single rear wheel 2500 / 3500 CTD? I'm looking at a 40ft or longer gooseneck bi or tri axle car hauler and am wondering if there's...

Moderator/Admin...it's 2010...let's get a 4th gen engine and Mod thread setup..

I think part of the reason that it's so light here is due to the fact that it's the same 6. 7L CTD; we have to go to the 3rd gen engine forum for non-general topics . I don't know if that means we need a 4th gen engine forum, but it does seem odd to me to keep going to the 3rd gen forums for...
