There is a guy local to me that was able to match the original dodge fabric and really firmed up the seat with new padding, it is great. He does advertise every so often on E-bay for the service. I had a large 1/2 thick piece of aluminum that I used to gradually tap the ring on and it worked well. Maybe I got lucky. .

I believe that that is the "tip" of the band adjuster (the part that the adjuster bolt pushes on). The adjuster probably split the tip and that is where you looseness came about. circled on my pic

OOps Scott is correct, I was thinking of the freeze plug in the head. In fact in the picture I linked it is staring me right in the face!
