I just took the lower seat cushion off and ran it over to an upholstery shop and they did a great job redoing it. The fabric was fine, the middle had collapsed down.
It's easy to take off, four bolts you reach underneath, 10mm as I recall.
This may or may not help depending on if anyone normally rides in the pass side. I just unbolted the lower seat cushion assemblies and swapped them from one side to the other. Granted it doesnt "fix" the issue it just moves it. However in my truck 99% of the time I am the only one in it. Also it wasn't the center of my seat it was the outside cushion as you describe. Worn probably due to my rear sliding out a million times over the years.
Another thing you can try is to remove the bottom seat assembly undo the seat cover hooks and lift up the frame of the seat and then place some foam and or thin carpet then replace the frame. I did that on mine and used some 2" foam and then a piece of nice carpet (ie thick backing). In the end it raised my sitting level too high. Which is when I just swapped sides. If I were to do it again I would use thinner carpet and just put the foam where it had compressed. The carpet keeps the foam either the new or the original from sinking into the springs where it gets cut and no longer rides on top of the springs. It literally took 15 minutes and 5$ worth of foam. The carpet scrap I had left over from recarpeting our house previously.
There is a guy local to me that was able to match the original dodge fabric and really firmed up the seat with new padding, it is great. He does advertise every so often on E-bay for the service. I think his user name is mcmahonmopar, if you do a search under ram seat upholstery you should find it.
