installed upgraded solenoid kit, no help..took the valve body out had it checked everything looked good. all that was left was the converter. i was able to drive it before the converter change, besides the locking up at stops, and in drive and reverse sometimes not all the time...but started...

iam thinking it was a recon by transtar billet cover...

an update... it turns out it was the converter....replaced it no issues at all..... working great.

not sure on a vb, yes i have other transportation. any suggestions? and what are your thoughts on a converter that is going bad,,,wont fix its self. and by now if bad it would have been gone by now

so i just left a diesel guy after awhile messing with the truck, he came to a conclusion that he thinks its the valve body. when it start acting up he could run through the gears a few time , the it would come out of it and work great. he did this a few times, he thought that a valve is hanging...

iwas told to stay away from a single disk converter,not sure why... if in a stock app.....

i like the idea of having an ato trans, and have no problem rebuilding one...but just dont know enough about lockup converters... just wish i could be sure what was wrong so i could fix it,,,lol if not going with a manual conversion...

doesnt seem to be electrical, i pulled the trans relay, and it still does it...also i was told that hitting the brake it would not let it lock up, also was told it should not even be locking up in dr or rev.. and there is no voltage coming from the computer to call foe lock up,,,,,, the fact...

mine is stock thats the way i want to leave it....current trans shifts nice and stays in od like it should..but dealing with lockup issues..that i have in another post...needing help....

just wondering how many have auto trans with no issues....and what you did to make them that way.

so the being that the converter is slowly locking up, the spool valve in the valve body controls that?

a little history, when i got the truck the guy i got it from, thought the converter was going bad, because it locked up sometimes going into fwd or rev and at stops...but not all the time....i put a noise filter on it, and it ran for a month no issues, the it went for a 8hr road trip with little...

i had someone suggest to jack up my rear wheels and put it in gear without touching the brake to see if it locks up...it does not when i apply the brake it slowly locks up until it dies,,,,, not sure what that means
