Here is the deal, my wife is going back to her ranch in south Florida in our/her 2001 3500 5. 9 cummins 4x4 dually from south tecksus. It has a big pipe, air cleaner, Edge with attitude, SouthBend update and larger input shaft etc on the nv4500. We both know the drill on the lift pump falling below 6 pounds and burning up the vp-44 injectionpump from not enuff fuel to keep it kewl. This is about a 1200 mile run and she is not hooked up to anything load wise.
She called me from a truckstop where she had made it 500 miles and had to refuel, when she come out of the Loves she glanced at the Edge and saw that it was reading o psi for the fuel pressure, this truck has the updated aftermarket lift pump Orielys sold and it normally ran 12 to 20 something psi since new about 20k miles ago. She shut down the truck and called a 24 hour road diesel mechanic we know in La/Ga line. He showed up with a code reader of some kind and a guage to check the actual fuel pump pressure at the vp44. She got in the truck and turned the key on and the mechanic held his hand on the pump, its one back towrds the fuel tank not on the side of the motor like the stock setup. Anyway, it came on and ran and presured up. The Edge was still reading 0 psi so he attached the presure guage on the vp44 and it read 17 psi. The code reader he had came up with some odd message. Anyways, she called me to say i think the edge sensor or harness is not reading anything but the pump is coming on and the manual guage is saying 17 pst what to do?? I said break the fuel line at the vp44 while the key is on but not the motor running and see if fuel comes out, also change out the fuel filter and check it as well for anything odd. Broke the line it had pressure and pump kicked back in. Told her to go on and we would gamble the senor from Edge had failed and if the pump was running and pressuring up without kiking off to try to make it home to Florida. Anyways she has made it about 700 miles and I want to know if anybody has had this happen to there fuel sensor and if that sesnor is seperate from the harness or do you get a new sensor from Edge and splice it into the edge harmess and toss the old sensor away?? Edge also is going to be updated as soon as she gets home and gets it off Monday, we got the last 99 cummins 24v edge with attitude done just last week, 5 years old and it was acting up, it came back asap from edge and that 99 5. 9 is running great again, this 2001 edge is about the same and it starting to fail as well, its only $99 for th rrreplacment parts. Anybody have fuel pressure sensor replacment/failure with there Edge with attitude, how did u fix it?? Thanks in advance.
