I have other posts on here regarding turbo waste gate, fuel pressure, 1/4 tank run out of fuel issues on my 2001 ram 3500 cummins, in 2004 I ran out of fuel on 1/4 of a tank, the factory tried to tell me I ran it empty and the fuel gauge said so, I said bull malarky, the gauge read a needle over 1/4 tank, I told the dealer its under warranty, so change the fuel pump. and if the tank is empty, change the sending unit. They said they replaced the pump and sending unit. Well, Balony. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the tank to drain the fuel, guess what? not even a half gallon came out, and yet the gauge read 1/4 of a tank. hmmm,, well I dropped the tank and ( Im going to sound stupid now ) there is no fuel pump, just a sending unit:-laf I thought the factory replaced the engine mounted junk pump, for a in tank pump, I bought a new sending unit from Genos, and as soon as it got here, I mocked the new sending unit in and for the firrst time in the life of the truck, the fuel gauge wents all the way to a hair below empty, AND, for the first time, the yellow gas pump light came on!! Yay. This is exciting for me because I bought this truck new, and its never worked right, and heres the stupid part, the factory fuel pump was on the factory engine mounted bracket this whole time, and I had no idea.
Ive got 4 new gauges from ISSPRO, fuel pressure, exaust temp, transmission temp and turbo boost. The new sending unit is in, the tank is back in the truck, ive got to install the sump and the new Airtex E7153 fuel pump, and go from there to see if the waste gate is seized or not. If so, I got a boost fooler to plug into it and then we will see. Stay tuned,
Thank you guys for the help.
