Friend of mine had a 2001 Chevy pick-up with 61K miles on it and his in-tank pump started acting up trying to go out.
Most of those we see are from not changing out the fuel filter which makes the pump work harder and from folks that have run them out of fuel which is hard on the pump. Plus I will agree we change more GM's than all other brands combined.

Excellent news! Glad you like it! Once you get used to them you kinda' get spoiled. :-laf I've got 62k on my service brakes and last check they were over 80%. :D

You guys are so lucky with your Exh brakes!

As if my wife does say enought about my spending habits... .

Just tried to order that part number from my supplier and they said its not a good number. Next they went by my VIN# and came up with just the one revision on the external pump that changes the line.

So at that point I was unable to confirm if a flash was needed.

Well I did find that part number for 225. 30 and its available but haven't confirmed if a flash is also needed. I guess its pointless if you have a box and Rip Rook has an accurate gauge. Bummer :(

Gas in-tank pumps are capable of way more pressure than the CP3 will ever need. Maybe this kit supplied with a different pump would be the ticket but it would have to be regulated. If someone gets one of these kits, take a pick of the pump and post some measurements. . I will cross to a better pump and ad a regulator.

I will post pics and ,ore info as soon as it arrives here. My guess is it will all be plug and play. There is a TSB for flashing the ecm for hard starting complaints in cold ambient conditions for trucks that have the retrofit pump.

I had to manually enter the part number into our computer system, because it does not show to be a good part number. It is good on the dealerconnect (Chrysler) system.

Pics!! that would be sweet.

Now it seems to me that fellas that have added other high pressure pumps have had hard starting trouble due to the pressure. Maybe the flash cycles power on the new kit due to improved pressure but that doesn't answer Rip Rook's low pressure trouble. Sounds like the flash is "only if needed" and a user could do the install and get the flash later if needed.

This I can believe for sure with the friend that traded in his 2001 Chevy. I ask him if he ever changed out the fuel filter, and his reply was "no" he also was on his third set of tires in 61K miles. Always complaining how sorry the tires are made these days, but never checked air pressure or rotated them rarely, not a real maintence type guy in my book.

Just had the retrofit in-tank pump installed Monday, as LP crapped out while on vacation, and when just driving empty putting around.

Talked to the technician at Addy's Harbor Dodge in Myrtle Beach, as it took way longer to do than I expected.

That's when he explained the new DC directive. The system is an adapter plate where the LP use to be, and a new pick-up/sending unit with wiring harness. Yes, a new reflash was done, and unfortunately my mileage has gone down 3 mph. Guess I'm getting more fuel now?

Funny thing I seem to notice since install, according to outlook monitor, I see a slightly lower common rail pressure and apparently slightly higher EGT's. I know it sounds rediculous, but my Outlook defueled pulling same 5'er, and it never did that before. This is still on uphill climbs I would guess are similar, but I have no scientic evidence to back this up.

Truck runs fine, I re-installed Performance download right after getting truck back, but I have no fuel pressure guage, so don't know if pressure is lower than old style FP.

GM diesels (Duramax) don't use an external lift pump. . Not in the tank or in a canister.

They rely totally on the gear rotor lift pump inside the CP3 high pressure injection pump to suck fuel from the tank. GM uses larger fuel lines to enable this. Only bad thing is a slight leak anywhere in the system sucks in air and can cause no starts. This is not a widely reported problem though.

There is actually a vacuum at the supply of the hp pump. You have to read pressure off the port of the hp pump.

Are these in tank failed GM pusher pumps you guys are talking about in gas trucks?

I just had a thought about this pump...

what about this kit and the use of a "big fuel line kit" such as the Scotty or the one DD sells, maybe that would make all the difference for trucks with boxes??

I guess we need a brand new kit that goes from tank all the way to the filter housing.

Can't comment on the performance of the two pump types but if in field replacement is a concern then the answer is clear. Heading off to Mexico and wanted a spare LP for the trip. Dealer told me no longer available until I explained what I needed it for... ... put me on hold and then told me he could get me one. $300. 00+ but you need back up down there. The new pump is a Cummins part... ... . Can't we still get it from them??????

Any one looked into useing a Holley blue or red pumb as a pusher???????

I realize this kit is new, but I wonder if you can buy the factory adapter plate seperately from the whole retrofit kit. That may allow us to easily add an aftermarket fuel pump fairly easily.

I looked and no sign of seperate parts from the kit

Dieselpp.com has them in the their kit, I wonder if he would sell them alone?

Carter 4601hp pusher for anyone who is looking to get the fuel and not spend a fortune doing so 23psi at idle and 13 under wide open throttle with 100hp injectors and Quadzilla race box on a 04 HO. Just a suggestion.

I got an adaptor plate from Scotty. It was expensive, but he was the ONLY one willing to sell me one without the entire kit (I tried Diesel Dynamics and Diesel PP).

Scotty's a really nice guy, and I have no problem recommending him.

I hope that a pusher pump will last longer pushing fuel instead of pulling it. I don't expect DC to install a FASS system but they could over-engineer the pusher pump a bit after all the troubles with the 2nd gens
