I realize this kit is new, but I wonder if you can buy the factory adapter plate seperately from the whole retrofit kit. That may allow us to easily add an aftermarket fuel pump fairly easily.

yes it is available... . 5175537aa :)

You could but if either one fails the truck will quit as the dead pump becomes a restriction to the good pump. Any Dealers retro-fitting will want the old pump for warranty return.

I think the biggest question is: will the new in-tank pump produce enough pressure to push through a supplemental filter (for those who want to add one)?

I won't buy it from the dealer AND they won't touch it, I have been doing all the work to my truck unless is is warranty on something I can't handle. they would just try to void my warranty as soon as they saw my truck anyways. My time is free(compared to THEIR $65+/hr. )

My concern with this retrofit is my American Tank auxiliary tank.

Mine is a gravity-fed system and won't work with an in-tank pump. So, if my lift pump goes out I have a useless aux tank.

I am thinking of trying to find a spare lift pump 'just in case. ' Does anyone know of an aftermarket lift pump that will replace the factory pump on the filter canister?

Thanks very much for this thread! I would hate to have been surprised to find I couldn't get a Chrysler 'puller' lift pump.

The Scotty Smart Fuel Kit allows you to pull off that pump and install a Holley Blue on the frame by the LF wheel.

I have done a bunch of research on that set up and may go that route when/if my mods pull the pressure too low. There are kits that mount the pump back at the tank but everyone that has them there complain of noise where the Scotty Kit they report same as stock or even more quiet.

The Holley Blue Pump had a bad rap a while back but has since been redesigned and so far everyone I have talked to who has them are happy.

Thank You

Thanks Matt! A fine idea.

It seems I can always find something to worry about when it comes to my truck Oo. This gives me some peace of mind! Thanks again.
