I ran with Maxxis Buckshot Mudder 305/70-17 (33. 9x12. 4) no rubbing even in a ditch and before I put the Revtek 2" pucks to level the front. Very Happy :).

$3,000 is a bunch of money to spend on tires just to find out you don't like 'em, they cut the power too much, etc. I'm particularly interested in 265 R70 19. 5 mpg reports, which reduce to final ratio on a 3. 73 to 3. 44. Those suckers are 34" high!

'Course, if you're using the 245s, that won't change your rpms enough to make much of a difference.

FYI

The following calculations are based on a truck with a 48RE auto transmission and 3. 73 gears and BFG 315/75/17 tires

Actual static tire Dia. unloaded=34. 5

Rotations per mile=584. 58

Percent larger than stock (265/70/17)=1. 084906

with the 3. 73's and larger tires your diff is = to 3. 4381

Should be re geared to match the 3. 73's RPM's=4. 05 (but 4. 10 would be great)

Motor RPM in 4th gear at 55 MPH=1379

RPM in 4th gear at 70 MPH=1755

RPM at 45MPH in 3rd gear=1635

RPM at 55MPH in 3rd gear=1999

if indicated speed based on speedometer is 65 you are actually going 71

I can also give you the numbers for 4. 10's

This is my $. 02

$$ for BFG and Wheels??

Whats the damage for the upgrade on the tires and custom wheels Ram? Did you have to compensate the computer for the trans with the larger tires? thanks, Doc:)

I ordered a set of 7. 5 inch wide aluminum 19. 5's from Rickson today. I'm looking at January at the earliest before I see them. Also going to run 285-70R19. 5's and will lift the front if I have to. I think Kelderman is going to help me with that. :D

This is the only optin I see to get a 34-35 in tall tire and stay inside the fenders. Brillmtb said that best a few posts back. Hope it's worth the money!

larger tires

I just bought my '03 last week and I am wondering if my Skyjacker D25's will work? I know that they will fit, but will it sit level or nose up. just wondering, I talked dealer into letting me take them off my '01.

If you go with Rickson and 19. 5" wheels you're talking about $3,000.

best options for adding larger tires to our truck.

for $130 buy the steel leveling kit and have it installed for $120

then buy the BFG's for $530 off tirerack.com

so for $780 you have made you truck into a monster.

so far i have added to my truck:

1. 100-fake wood grain(cheesy but the best i could find)

2. 250- installed 2" level kit

3. 120-floor mats

4. 550+40-install tires

5. 270-gauges

6. 675- 5" exhaust& Edge EZ

7. 50- royal purple synthetic

8. 130 - tinted windows

9. 15- to rubber coat the bottom of truck

10. done for now besides steps and bed liner

total=$2,200 plus $36,000

i have got $38,200 total into my truck and am told constantly that i have the baddest truck on the road. so i say that to say even ford and chevy owners agree that when our 03 dodge is the badest when set up right with some performance, interior and exterior bombs. on a daily basis no kidding men women kids young and old stop me to ask about the old silver bullet. i hope i am not sounding cocky or anything but i do like this truck and have spent more than i should have to set it up. of course this website is the reason i bought a new and set it up the way i did. thanks guys for helping me to see what is the best way the 1st time. best part about my truck i only owe 22,000 not to bad considering i have only have it since februrary.

NEVER, NEVER apologize for being cocky. Driving these trucks does that to people, so accept it as a fact of life and go on about your business. I've walked up to Chevy and Ford owners and asked 'em straight out, "Say, didn't they have any Dodges available when you bought your truck?" So far nobody has tried to punch me out.
