Ok, I just arrived after a 750 mile run from Oregon to L. A. in my '99 CTD. It has a 47RE, 4. 10 ratio diffs , and is a 2500 SRW LB QC. I had 1500 lbs of cargo in the rear.
I ran 70-75 MPH pretty much the entire trip turning 2400-2500 RPMS. Hand calculated mileage was 18. 1 MPG. With my old 3. 54 gears I would have probably been close to 20 MPG, but turning these RPM's hurt the mileage a bit.
