So here's some irony for you.
Several years ago I installed T&C Diesel's dual factory lift pump bracket and a second lift pump. Knowing that these pumps are failure prone and knowing my factory pump had 120,000 + miles on it, I wanted some insurance for an upcoming trip to Montana, that I wouldn't be stuck on the side of the road with a dead lift pump. I know, I can carry a replacement, they are easy to change, but I like working on my stuff on my time! So I got it installed, fuel pressure was much better and more consistent and I was happy. Several trips back and forth to Montana over the past few years and no issues.
A couple of weeks ago I noticed my fuel pressure was dropping off much more than normal when I put my foot in it and also was not stable as I was cruising down the highway. So last weekend I disconnected the electric from each pump individually and sure enough, I had a dead pump. So I got on RockAuto and ordered a new one. Went out tonight to change the pump, pull it off, put the new one on. No problems. Fuel pressure is back where it should be. So I go back into the garage and look at the bad pump I just pulled off. Turns out it is the new replacement/secondary pump I installed two years ago! My factory pump is still going strong at 150,000 miles!
So we shall see if in another 2 years I have to replace another replacement pump!
