Ok guys, i'm back again. I've read past forums on the banks exhaust and i'm not to impressed... Please, give me some ideas on what else is available. I'm not going to bomb out the truck or anything. Its gonna remain stock but would like a bit more sound but nothing like straight pipes..... Any info would be greatly appreciated... .

I don't think my Areoturbine is too loud. It was loud before I modified it. Put the Areoturbine right at the bottom of the downpipe. Quieter and smoother. I like it

My Magnaflow 17223 (?) got rid of that annoying drone and along with the full 4" system dropped my EGT's 150-200 degrees also!! Oo.

Dave, I can't get the sound file to work. It bombs out my IE6 whenever I click the play button. Also the page with the sound file is full of script errors. I'll try it at work tomorrow.

Next time I come by we oughta do some sound files of my truck roddin' down Oregon Ave. or the Lewis St. underpass :D

Thanks for the info. I went to your website and checked your exhaust and prices out. I would want the stainless system for my 03 dodge, but i don't feel as confident doing that kinda work installing myself. . Here in SouthEastern Indiana, banks exhaust i'm finding are very popular... . I was told that banks was kinda high priced for their exhaust but when i found out your price... . Its considerably cheaper!! Thanks for the info, but i can't justify spending the extra $$$ for a very similar system.

i would be interested in the "bad" things you heard about the banks monster x. IMHO i think the banks is the best - the "organization" (banks), now that is a different story! i have a monster x on my excursion, sounds great with max flow. my 03 ctd is next... . that is the ONLY thing i would buy from banks, you can get better VALUE aftermarket upgrades for everything else. best place to get the banks is torqueandchrome.com, thus eluding the sales reps (sidewinders) at banks.

on another note - of course this stuff is expensive, especially stainless steel. you can get a monster X at torqueandchrome for six and a half.

"if you wanna play, you gotta pay"

i believe it is. actually, it's 3. 5" to the muffler and 4" thereafter. if you can get rid of the stock muffler replacing it w/a straight through muff; solving the 3. 5/4" mismatch and pipe misalignment, you would have a pretty descent system for less than 100 bux. any muffler shop could solve this obstacle.

banks exhaust

Hi

I've just read several posts from previous forums on here saying bad things about banks. Everything from "you are just paying for the name" to "they wont stand behind their warranty" to "just not sounding good". I can get the monster ex for 625 at a local diesel supply co. I personally like the banks system best, i like the price, and i like that i can take it to be installed locally. I'm not much of a mechanic and when it comes to my 37000 truck, i wanna make sure a diesel mechanic gets the job done best. I think my truck does great stock, and it will remain stock except for the exhaust system and that only is happening due to I like some "rumble" to my truck. The stock exhaust is just to quiet for me. I just hope after i install it, it wont rattle my ears going down the road or at idle...

JBiltz,

that is a good price! the exhaust on my excursion psd has a nice baratone rumble (not obnoxious) w/plenty of turbo whistle - just like banks' claims. the thing about the banks monster exhaust is you can not go wrong; no drone, fit and finish, actual engineering in the system - not just a bunch of pipes and an off-the-shelf muffler. bottomline, it works and it will last. again, i wouldn't buy anything else from banks. there are better products and vendors out there for every other upgrade

Banks Monster Exhaust

Many of our customers have good things to say about how the Banks Monster exhaust sound on the new Cummins. The new system uses an expansion chamber in the inlet of the straight through muffler which really works great with no drone. Banks has also update their tip to double wall with a 4"ID and 5"OD. The Banks quality is excellent and the fit and finish is some of the best.
