Hey guys. Not sure if this is products/accessories, but since its for my 04, I thought I'd ask here.

I hear a lot of talk about wheel well covers, etc. , and the lack of them on our trucks. Can anyone comment on the need for these for one, and two point me to where I can get a set if they are needed?

Thanks,

Dave

The "need" for the liners is up to the individual. Personally I think it completes the truck and keeps sand/salt/mud from getting all over everything. Your dealer parts department will be able to supply you with a set for around $80 US dollars.

Rosco thanks for the quick reply. That price is certainly not bad for extra protection. Do they just screw/bolt in? Anyone have pics? I guess I'm not quite sure what they look like or what void they fill. I certainly have lots of sand here, and when I move back up to Cleveland in May, will have plenty of salt. Sounds like a good addition.

God, its like a curse how I get suckered into every add-on for new toys!!!!! Of course I LOVE to justify them by saying they'll protect or help my truck in the long run...

I tried my best with the TDI, knowing that it was a work only vehicle, to leave it alone. A year later I've sold it with a bypass filter, chip, egr gone, eps device, ccv mod, wet okole seat covers, trailer hitch, JL audio stealth sub box, LMAO.

What can ya do, its an addiction!:-laf

The liners are a simple bolt in option that come with instructions. The one thing that can be a hassle for some is that you need a torx driver or socket to do the job.

The liners go in the rear wheel well, the best thing to do to get an idea of what they are is find a pre 2002 Ram 4X4 and take a look.

Sounds easy enough. Torx drivers? You're talking to someone who owned 2 german cars. I have torx bits out the ying yang!:p Even the little security bits with the hole in the center, hehee

Lightman,

I put a set of the wheel liners in my son's truck and there is absolutely nothing to it. The liners should be standard, that said, they look good and are functional. Best accessory you can get for a SRW for less than $100.

I"m guessing these are a mopar accessory? I'll definitely get them.

I just got off the phone, put in my order for Wet Okole seat covers. They are expensive but worth every penny. Even got the Cummins Logo on the front seats:cool:

wheel covers

installed them both on my 2wd 99 and on my 03. I think they just "complete" the package! the 03's were a snap to install, remove 2 (one front one back) torx screw and install two more, fram/body already has holes. took about 5 min per side!

I agree totally. on the 99' they did not come with 2WD models, guess they figured that since you would not be off roading it why go to the expense! I liked the way they looked off road or not. on the 03 I was told by the dealer they were "optional" equipment, got him to agree to sell me the inserts at dealer cost, what ever that means, paid about $67 plus tax for them.

My 99 was a 3500 dually, haven't checked ,(no need to), for the 03. check out "mopar for less. com" think they have them listed there.

I put the rear wheel well liners in my my truck, half hour job. When I got finished, I didn't like the semi gloss look of the liners. As my truck had been undercoated, one of those things that the dealer threw in because I bought the truck and because I am such a nice guy, I went down there and had them spay a little undercoating on them. Now they look like they were part of the original truck and not an add-on. You can also buy a can of spray on undercoating at your local auto parts store, it's worth the effort.

I have read all the post about the wheel house liners and thought it was interesting that no one has said anything about trimming them to fit.

I work at a body shop, and have installed them on a buddy's truck, he had just put 315's on. After I test fitted them the front and rear edge in the back of the liner (when looking into well opening) was only about an inch away from tire. I figured that when he pulls a 5th wheel or the first time heads out across a wet field I could see them getting ripped off. I took a razor blade and trimmed off the lower rolled edge to gain some clearance. So it took me about an hour.

Glad someone else chimed in on that, because I have had both the front (Jacobs e-brake) and rear (PullRite brackets) off. I thought I might have gotton them by mistake ;) .

On my 2000- 1500 4x4 the liners came with it. RV dealer had to take them out to install my 5th wheel hitch. Forgot to tell me they had to order the plastic pop rivits to secure them back in and when I was checking the truck out after I got home I saw they only replace two of the rivits in each liner. They had the story about on order, I called back complaining about not reattaching the liners. Oh, if you do go off road any and don't have them you'll probably have to get your engine steam cleaned to get all the mud out of the engine area. Look for more creative ways to shaft the consumers now that the Germans are running Chrysler.

Dean,

I have seen RBattelles on a SRW, and the dually does not have them ... ... ... ... ... ..... or at least mine doesn't!

The unit sold for the SRW comes down far enough to actually cover the frame rail in the rear!
