Yet another wheel/backspacing question

I have done a lot of searching and reading but I am still not certain, so I figured I would ask.

I am currently running 20" wheels (285/60R20 tires) from a MY21 on my 06. I decided to go back to the stock wheel and tire size for a number of reasons, and am looking at options. The 20" wheels have very slight rub at full turn but otherwise are fine. I believe I read that is due to the offset of +57mm. I believe, again from searching the forums, that the stock 3rd gen have +44mm offset. The wheels I am looking at are 17x8", with an offset of 45.72mm - they are power wagon wheels - and I have read power wagon wheels work on a 2500.

If I am understanding all the numbers correctly, they should work fine (tire size will be stock 265/70R17) since they are very close to (essentially the same as) the 06 stock wheel offset.

Am I understanding this correctly? Sorry, sometimes I need it explained in "crayon font"! ;-) I would have added to a prior thread that I found covering this subject, but they are all archived.

Double check your door sticker for tire size. The only sizes I have seen on 3rd gen were LT245/70R17 or LT275/70R17. Mine being a tradesman has the 245's but I have seen 2500's and 3500's with 275's. There may be others.

I did a little searching, it appears you are correct on the PW wheel offset. Nice looking wheels. Supposedly they will be marked on the backside ET45 to indicate the offset.

I know of two different '04 3500 dully models that both came from the factory with 275's. The OEM alloy rims I bought to put on my truck still had the original tires on them (by date code and matching the rim date stickers, and per the owner who said the truck only had 40K on it) It was a 2008 model 3500 SRW and the tires were 275's. I gave those very old, half worn 275's to the owner of one of the 3500 duallies, to replace his slick rear tires.

I have two neighbors with 2006 model quad cab short bed 2500's and another that sold his recently. One is a 4x4, the other two being 2wd and they all have 275's, though I have no way of knowing if that was the original size, as I have not seen the door stickers.

All I was saying to the OP was check the door sticker to be sure.
