Thanks for the post Ken. I',m going to have the dealer do the TSB tomorrow, since they have the truck already :{ for the slave cylinder (aka pilot bearing) in the clutch. I hope they are higher quality then they are fast. They have had it 10 days as of tomorrow... ... ... ... . :eek:

I'm going to have the TSB done on my truck tomorrow. It's already at the dealer as they are replacing the passenger side door hinges (couldn't get rid of the squeak they've had since new). The service manager warned me that the mileage may get worse. He said that other reprograms they've done for driveability complaints have resulted in lower MPG, but none of them specifically mentioned improved MPG. He also said that once they've done the update, there's no going back. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed!

At least they gave me a 2004 1500 Hemi 4x4 for a loaner.

if it aint broke dont fix it... ... ... ... ... ... .

You know even 1 MPG equates to about $4 per tank at current prices. I fill up at least twice a week now. 1 MPG equates to about $400 per year for me. Oo. I am going to go after my dealer. :-{} I am interested to know if it ONLY fixes the overhead, giving the impression of better MPG. My overhead is consistently 2. 5 MPG low

I have to say my overhead used to read low and now reads numbers I only could dream about. I will have to see when I hand caculate what the real deal is. If you only watch the overhead you will be happy with the change. The real numbers are what I am interested in. Tommie

Here's a good one, I take my truck into the dealer for a TSB, get it back, the overhead shows 19 mpg. Holy crap, I went from 11. 2 to 19, talk about an orgasim, life was good, and I was even pulling Donner Summit. Man, Dodge could do no wrong, then my wife reaches up and changes it from metric to normal, my 19 went back to 11. 2. Darn near ran off the road. :{

This is how the select few members are braggin about 20++mpg, little do they know they are reading kpg. Then when they realize the boo-boo and actuality is starring them in the face they still claim 20++mpg. :D

Mine started reading 18. 4 combo city/hwy. After your post I thought boy am I a dreamer it had to be too good to be true. I went out right away and It is mpg. I will only know when I hand caculate. Who would have changed it to kpg on your truck? Good luck. Tommie

I'm getting between 18. 5 and 19. 7 average with 11000 on the truck. I dont want to mess with a good thing, but as ken said, more is better. Does anyone think it would be a mistake for me to do this. I'm tempted, just to have the latest software.

TSB I'm getting 2.5mpg more

So far after TSB I'm getting 2. 5mpg more mix city& hy I'm Driving from seattlet to mt to night I'LL let you guys know what mpg are. Oo.

John... Mine gets the TSB tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. It may take a couple of days though. JMO but with the mileage your getting I wouldn't touch a thing! ;)

MPG since flash

I was able to put 288 miles on the truck since the flash on Saturday. I put in 19 gallons on the way home tonight . That comes out to 15. 15 MPG with the overhead showing 15. 3. I know this isn't a lot of miles yet, but it's a lot better than the 12. 5-13. 3 I was averaging before. Only 7300 on the truck, so I hope it keeps going.

I've got a 2000 mile trip to Denver this weekend, so I'm getting mine done tomorrow. I figure why wait, I know I'll get it eventually.

For those that got the flash... Any noticeable difference in power or all around driveability of the truck? I get over 20mpg now, not sure if I want to mess with a good thing.

Hey Guys;

One member posted that after the re-flash his truck ran smoother and had less of the pinging sound. Can anyone else confirm a reduction in the pinging sound? My truck pings so bad, it sounds like sh#t.

Well brought mine in this morning for the TSB and got nothing but a hard time. Said they can't just do a TSB. Also said they have never heard of A MILEAGE PROBLEM BLAH BLAH BLAH. Then the Sevice Manager said he has never heard of a 600 "pinging". Well I never even mentioned the word so of course I jumped on him. He couldn't wait to get away from me then. What a bunch of crap. If they don't do the TSB then I never buy another truck there thats for sure. He also said TDR was a bunch of crap. LOL!!

John

I walked right out of that place in port jeff when I was shopping for this truck. I wouldnt buy an air freshner from them. If you dont mind the drive, go out to riverhead. They are a good bunch of guys. Small place but family owned.

I'll try it, at 12 MPG running empty and 10. 4 pulling 5th wheel. About ready to trade it off and go to Duramax.

You'll never make up the money you lose. Remember it's only the DIFFERENCE you'll be savind and the Dmax doesn't do much better than 10 under tow.
