You are correct, I had the dealer activate it on mine during my last service appointment. No charge. (Of course, I forked over 350+ for the Transmission Service, Rear End Service, Oil Change, Fuel Filter Change, and tire rotation..... )

CAgnoli, that's good. Yours is the first post I have seen that this IS available for 04. 5s. Did you have the TSB, or did the dealer look at you like you had three heads  when you asked?

Poor Cab Heat

I simply told the service manager that I had read on the TDR website, that a TSB had been issued for my truck allowing the cruise control to activate the high idle feature, allowing for the truck to idle for extended periods of time.

The diesel tech was able to find the TSB by searching for "Poor Cab Heat", and while he mentioned that it didn't reference the 4. 5 truck, he'd look at the ECM anyway. Within five minutes he had returned telling me that it was an option that just needed activated, and that it was "Cool".

Ed Shults of Warren has been a stand up service department. When I asked them if I could bring in my own synthentic oil for the next service, the service manager said that several other truck owners do, and it's not a problem.

I'm going to search the forums, because there was another post I ran across late last nite during a Microsoft Exchange migration that referenced the actual TSB. I'll reply with the tsb number.

TSB in thread above post

If you read that TSB in it's entirety, it states "2003 and later trucks, proceed below", makes no mention of not covering 2004. 5. I'd print it, and take it to the dealer with that sentance highlighted if they insist on being tools about enabling it.

On a side note, it does seem frustrating that my 5 star dealer is very helpful, yet a vast majority of the rig owneres on this site have had terrible luck with thier 5 star dealers.

My dealer will even install the AFE Progaurd7 for me. (I'm a computer geek, not a wrench head, so outside of putting fuel in it, and washing it, I'm completely helpless, not to mention intimidated by working on such a complex, and expensive vehicle, but put me in front of a Network Server or Firewall, and watch out :)

Somewhere in the TSB it has engine I. D. numbers that seem to confuse the most astute service writers into a stuper of "I'll have to charg'em cause I don't no what to do" mode... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . So if you not up for a stressful fight over it , just pay for it.
