Question regarding headlight switch

Do EGT's stay in check a bit more using injectors as opposed to the different boxes available? I'm interested in a power upgrade and keeping EGT's down is a main concern.

Diesel Dan,

They have injectors for the 555 also. I have a set in my truck. My mileage is 17 mpg around town. I jus' got back from a 1,200 mile round trip. My worst tank was 18. 6 mpg (hit about 6 passes/ boost was 13-16 psi a lot of the time) and my best was 21. 2 mpg.

You can call them. 509-546-9997, ask for Scott or Chad

So how much did this improve your stock numbers? What HP increase and are these safe with stock air / exhaust?

I have a hard believing you can add 100 HP AND gain 4 mpg with injectors. It just seems TOO good to be possible. I mean, wouldn't Dodge use these as oem units (unless I guess emissions would prevent it)?

Efficiency. Less fuel does the same amount of work. This is done by improving the way the fuel is atomized. And remember, the 4MPG improvement is not going to be noticed if you're USING that extra 100HP at every stoplight. It's just nice to know it's there when you need it, and when you're not using it your truck is running as efficiently as possible. You can bet I'm going to be watching this thread over the next few months and if the reports are unanimous, I'll be putting a set in my '05 ASAP. If there really is a cure for the 600's MPG, I will be happy with that truck for a loooong time to come! :D

Oo. Oo. Oo.

I'm going to have to agree with TBrennan. I'll believe it when I see it. The engineering that goes into a redesign like the "600" must be staggering. Cummins has stated that they informed DC that the 600 would get less fuel mileage and that was a trade-off required to meet the new emissions regs. I'm sure thier copious supply of engineers have experimented with injector design. Now before anybody points out that the aftermarket has many successes, keep one thing in mind: the aftermarket does not have to be concerned with meeting emissions regs. IMO any solutions that get you your MPG's back are either going to reduce power or increase emmissions. My best guess is that MPG has been reduced primarily due to programming (the third injection event) and increased power levels, ergo the real way to "fix" it would be to somehow eliminate the 3rd injection event. Hopefully, I'm wrong. ;)

I know alot of guys go by their overhead console for fuel mileage. New injectors throws the overhead out of whack. I am confident our members on the whole know better and are suppling actual hand calculated mileage. It's just VERY hard to believe a bigger injector (even if your not using all of it) can supply 4-6mpg. That's an awful lot, hope it's true.

I called DPU today and spoke to Scott. He told me that after installing their injectors on five consecutive trucks (600s?? I think he said). This is what they have found. They filled each truck to the rim, ran them through the same senario, and tested them on their chassis dyno, installed the injectors, retested, then refilled to the rim again. The results were 4 to 6mpg (4. 6avg. ) increase in fuel mileage, and 90 to 102 hp increase. I asked what these injectors would cost shipped to me. Scott said that they haven't sold any other than those that they have personally installed, so he would have to get with his partner and come up with a fair price. If the claims are true, I hope to find out soon.

I think DPU is a decent vendor, I keep meaning to run over to their shop and check things out for myself but haven't made it by yet. I went by there when they used to be Dr. Performance but they broke relations because they didn't like his way of doing business (that's what I heard anyway).

I have no idea who actually manufactures the injectors, I would like to know that.

If I can find a few minutes I'll run across town and let you know what I find out. I guess I have it pretty good here in lil' ol' nowhereville Pasco. . . I can go 1. 5 miles east and fondle Dave's TAGs & Aeroturbines at Diesel Power Products, or go 4 miles the other way and dig into DPU's goods :D

Need the 411 on these injectors!

OK Vaughn,

You seem to have the location to get up close and personal with these injectors and their manufacturers/distributors.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to get the dirt on these things from the horses mouth. :D

Us poor 600 operators on the east coast are dying to see whats going on over there!:(

If the claims are true, I want some o' that! Oo. Oo. Oo.

How about throwing us a bone? :D

Pleeeeeease?

I'd like info on the ones for my '04 305/555. Cost, results, etc. I saw blake underwood's post. Would like more info.

thanks

Even if was 0 hp gain the added mpg's would make it worth it. My question is, if you bring your truck to the dealer for wrnty work would DC say to bad your on your own when the spot them?

I would have to say, it you put the injectors in, you no longer have a warranty.

Thats what I thought, even though I am not looking to race it. All I want to be able to do is pass a few more gas stations without having to pull in.

The chances of a dealer finding that you have aftermarket injectors is almost zero. I know plenty of guys that have gotten warranty work with injectors in their truck, no problems.

Hopefully all of this hype turns out to be true, my old man's 600 feels a little sluggish to me. Let the bombing begin. :D

I too am greatly interested in there effect on the 305/555 motors. I don't see why they wouldn't be very simlar in performance and mileage.

I agree with this statement to a certain point. If something in the engine failed, I believe they would have to prove it was caused by the aftermarket injectors to not honor the factory warranty. Either way, if the data proves true, I'm gettin' some. :-laf

Trust me, I want a set of these injectors if they are for real but, on the warranty issue, the manuf. may be required to prove the aftermarket part caused the failure. The problem I have seen is the money that people have to spend with personal laywers and such to make the manuf. prove it. Such is the way of the world.
