New Truck Arrived

Because the vehicle status website that the dealers and DC use shows three situations: Completed, Present and Future. Shows date order placed, current status (mine is KZ on 10/21), present location, and future actions, i. e. , load on ship, arrive in Tampa, deliver to dealer.

I ordered my truck on 9/26. I talked to my dealer today, after impatiently waiting. Bad news! my dealer informed me they received a fax today stating that my order would not go to build status till january 04. The fax also stated the "new" motor would be 50 state legal. So I assume this means EGR, which I didn't want. Looks like I'll be buying one off the lot.

Update Nine

I placed my order with the same Dealer as dkosheba on 9-10, fifteen days before he did. I called customer service Mon and was told my order was still BX. Also mine is about the oldest order in the system. Customer service told me to call my dealer and have him check with the district manager. My dealer happened to be at Chrysler in Detroit on Monday. Dealer called me Tuesday and told me that at a meeting Monday, he was told that any Cummins not already scheduled to be built would have the EGR engine and not to expect delivery till February OR March. The dealer said another order put in 15 days after mine (dkosheba's) was scheduled. Dealer said he had no reason as to why, except "Luck of the draw".

JTadra,

I called the Customer service line yesterday and I did get the VIN number that dealer told me they had last Thursday. But as far as status goes it is still D status and Chrysler Customer service told me that order is not scheduled yet, and could not give me estimated build or ship dates. Wait and see.

As far as the EGR, I believe that they won't have it. There are a couple other threads that lead me to believe it will be a Fleetguard particulate trap/Catalyst of some sort. Should be very easy fix if that is the case.

Don,

Well I guess all we can do is wait. I tried emailing customer service today, I thought I might be able to get a more detailed answer. All they said was, "Contact the Dealer", no help at all!

Hope you get yours soon. I'm not Ram-less, I have my 98 24 valve. The 04 was to replace the 90 Ram Diesel I sold last year. I'll be watchin your posts and GOOD LUCK!

Called DC on Friday, and to my surprise, on Thursday the 20th, my truck was on the line in "frame & paint" and on Friday it was in "trim"! :D Oo. The Rep said that it was scheduled to ship this Monday the 24th and she thought from the trucks status that it probably would! :D Dealer said that it would only take 10 to 14 days to get to him. I'll believe that when I see it with the Holidays and everything.

Another good thing! It will not be the "New HO with 50 state EPA approval"! :D :D Oo. Oo.

The White Obsession goes to the new owner at 11:00, Wednesday the 26th. :( That means I will be without a truck for a couple of weeks. :(

Mine is still sitting on the railcar in Saltillo. Estimated delivery date is now 12/8. As I've posted before, it moves forward a day every day. It's been on that railcar since 10/21 now!!! I'm really getting discouraged and angry about the delay. If I don't get it prior to 12/20, it will cause me lots of problems. Planned Christmas trip in the new truck, etc.

It took several days for my truck (5, I think) for my truck to clear customs inspection at the Port of Laredo. Once past there it moves right along pretty fast :) .

From the posts I'm seeing about trucks going to west & midwest, it seems like the shipping delay is Vera Cruz trucks, perhaps even just those going to Tampa. Anyone else have one going thru Tampa?

Veracruz? West & Midwest?

I don't think any West or MidWest truck will go thru Veracruz, they go through Laredo by rail.

Shipped to Storage

My truck is completed a was "Shipped to Storage" for inspection. I hope it get on a rail car tomorrow. :D

Any idea what this "shipped to storage" means? Is that storage at the factiry waiting for real shipping?

This message follows up one we posted on 12 OCT... it's like a "rest of the story" story. In the last post my husband sold my truck one Friday morning and we ordered a new '04 just like his new truck... except mine was Graphite Metallic. Well the silly thing has been on order since 10 OCT and is still in BX status... obviously with no sign of movement towards being built. My husband, probably a "Stocker/Lover" type, got really nervous that "my" new truck would have a new engine in it and that it would not be delivered until '04. You know on the Dodge web site where you can go around the country and search their inventory? We looked high and low... we found a truck... albeit a 4 wheel drive... but the rest of the truck is perfect... oh, and it's black too. We live in the panhandle of Florida and the truck was located in Brighton, CO. So he talked with a salesman at the dealership. We boarded a plane in Fort Walton Beach, FL early last Wednesday morning and flew into Denver Int'l Airport (via Atlanta, GA, of course). The salesman picked us up at the airport and we drove our shiny new black, 6 speed, 4x4, 2500 Ram QC Laramie Sport off into the sunset Wednesday afternoon... headed for Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park. Then we drove it home to Florida. My brand new truck now has 1900 miles on it and it's a great truck!! It was truly the most fun way to buy a truck that we have found yet!! ;) theresa & Frank

Built in Mexico

At this point, living in Michigan with Snow on the ground and wind chills below freezing. I would like to fly to Mexico and pick up my own truck right off the line. I bet I'm not the only one whom would do that either. I would enjoy driving it back home myself and make a few stops along the way.

I bet I don't sit in Customs or Storage for a month on my drive home. That is not the case yet for me, as I am still waiting for a build date to be established on my new ride.

According to DC my truck is either sitting in Vera Cruz or on a ship headed for Baltimore. They couldn't decifer which location it is presently located. They also don't have a scheduled delivery date. The lady on the phone also indicated that the computers were only updated once a week. :--)

Well finally some progress on mine. The Insight data base now shows location as "Vessel" rather than Port of Vera Cruz. So, at least it's on the boat now!! Estimated delivery date has remained 12/8 for three days now. Maybe it will actually get here by then! It sat on a railcar in Vera Cruz from 10/21 to 11/25. How ridiculous.
