Now that I'm a proud new CTD owner here come the newbie questions.

I thought both the alloy and steel rims are 17x8, but the door panel sticker on my new '04 says 17x7. 5. That being the case I may have to back off from the planned 315/70/17s to 285/70/17s.

Anybody runnning 315s on the steel rims and are the '03 steel rims 17x7. 5 also ??

I have searched through everything and didn't find this question covered.

They are 17x8, the spare is 17x7. 5. I thought the same thing when I had my steel wheels, but I took a tape measure to them when they where mounting the 315s, 8" wide. I upgraded to aluminum wheels that I bought on ebay, took a the same tape measure to them, 8" wide. I figured I'd throw that in, just in case someone claims I don't know how to measure a wheel.

Spent some time last evening measuring the steel wheel. With the tire mounted you have to do things piecemeal, but it appears to be 8" wide. The spare wheel does appear to be 1/2" narrower.

Don't know about 4x2s, but the door sticker on my 4x4 specs the wheels at 7. 5".

I am going ahead with my plans to put 315/70/17s on the stock wheels.
