I thought the powerstrokes where faster stock? I put a truck on him. He was heading back to the shop for the diablo programmer so I need to get something soon!

Raced a Ford PowerStroke today, beat him by a truck length. I thought the Fords were faster stock than the CTD. He is gonna get the Diablo programmer put on his Ford so I need to do something soon so I can still kick his butt!

I think!!

Any 6. 0 I've ever jumped on ate me alive. 7. 3 differant story. His might be sick which is common on 6. 0s. But if running any where near NORMAL their FAST for a diesel just not the most dependable vehicle out there.

I had this guy next to me on the innerstate, going down to the mile high nationals, with a 6. 0 with edge sticker in his back window, loud 5" exhaust.

he would slow down then punch it then slow down again as I am just cruising 65 with the a/c on. so after 5 times of hearing that thing downshift I pointed to road ahead and when I heard that thing downshift I matted it, tst box on 7, he did not want to play any more. he didnt even look at me as we went in the gate Bandimeir race track :-laf they might be fast stock but even the bombed ones don't make that much power.

Well modded you might be faster but kid you not the 6. 0s ROMP stock and are MUCH faster then our inlines.

they do go went they want I drove one before I orderded my 03, It had the dead pedal, floor it and nothing. then shut it off and it was fast once it spooled 2200 revs to 4000 revs. the are pigs at this altitude below 2000 revs.

I drove one about a month ago on a lot. Whole different story and no it wasn't for me. Anyway. The one I drove had 3:73's in it. What a pig. I've heard they're faster then us stock. I've never raced stock to stock so I don't know. Modded I'll kill one, I've done it. But that thing stock was gutless. Not sure if it was the truck or the gearing or what. But it was way NOT impressive. I really think my stock SO could hang with it. Needless to say for $52K I left.

Just for the record, he did pass me slowly at about 95mph but that would have been at the what, 1/2 mile mark? Maybe I have a freak? I raced another chipped, intake and exhaust 7. 3 that only put about 2 trucks on me.

The 6. 0s BLOW the 7. 3s away if running correct,STOCK. I have had work trucks with contractor names and wheel barrows, mud hanging off them with 4 up front and three eating Fritos etc BLOW MY DOORS OFF. I was like DO WHAT the first time. After two or three more times I don't edge them on anymore.

they are quicker than ours stock, but an edge EZ for about $450 takes care of that.

My wife raced one of those King Ranch SRW 3500 several months back driving my truck. the PSD went 0 for 3. (what can I say she's aggressive)

I'll second that !

An 05' 6. 0 automatic f-250 blew my doors off . Don't know if it was stock but didn't sound any different from the other 6. 0's I've heard at idle.

Mine being a 6 spd has a slight dissadvantage drag racing IMO.

Thats my excuse. :--)

my boss has an 03 6. 0 and he whants to line up but I whount cuz I know he would eat my lunch. and it is modded with edge/ same as mine but he will still blow me away. even from a rolling 30 mph I know he will. I have alot of respec for the fords, infact I was going to bye one but the dodge was 10gs cheeper lol.

I have run up against 3 now with the same results. I pull away off the line for about 4-5 truck lengths and then they just stay back there.

In case you guys didnt know, the 6-speed, 6. 0 liter Strokers have that miss problem, and the automatics dont. The local Ford dealership up here said that at that certain powerband (1500-2200 RPM's), the oil used to fire the electric/hydraulic injectors is foaming! And therefore the injections are messed up. The automatics dont seem to do it because the transmission's seem to shift before this happens. Just food for thought.

P. S. - Several stories of Cummins lasting 500-700,000 plus miles. Never heard of a Stroker over 200k.

The new cummins automatic will edge out a stock 6. 0 and duramax automatic. . With programming, it's a different story. . The 6. 0 and dmax respond much better to programming alone. . Then again, there are a lot more additions for us to choose from as far as aftermarket injectors, turbos, and engine mods. .

A stick just has a hard time being a racer, unless it's modded. .

I'm a little late on this. I had a rental '03 F-350 Powerstroke Crew Cab Long box SRW(6. 0) and that thing was unbelievebly fast! At 8000lbs It would kick the crap out of my 2nd gen. cummins. I used to drive a 7. 3 Powerstroke tow truck, and that didn't seem any faster than the Cummins really. I wonder how much that variable geometery turbo has to do with it though? The first rental 6. 0 Powerstroke I had blew the air hose off from the turbo to the intake, and without constant boost that thing was a total pig! I couldn't get it over 80 km/h. I watch the boost guage on my Cummins, and when not making any boost it seems quicker then the Ford was with no boost. The ford also took a long time to warm up, and was considerably worse on fuel. I can honestly say I liked the truck though, still can't get over how freakin' fast that thing was stock! I wonder if That Turbo would fit on my truck?
