Aero Tanks are not current on the 05 fuel systems. While trying to source some parts to install my tank out of my last truck I got into a bit of a tiff with a lady one the phone. She argued and argued that the 05 lift pumps are on the block not in the tank. You would think a TDR advertiser would be a little more current.

Buyer beware if you a running an 05 or more recent rig.

Every aero tank I've had was crap. Welds look like my 2year old did them. and they always had slag in them. had them build a custom one for a jeep and was way off and not even square. But they were the only local tank place so I was stuck. Now I do my own.

Aero Tanks

I made the mistake of buying an AERO tank once. It was designed so poorly that I had to put wooden blocks between the tank and the bed to keep the fuel hoses from getting crushed and being able to mount it right (it was the "right" tank too!). Then, I could not get fuel suction from the tank for some reason, probably due to weld slag in the tank (i removed all I could). The fit is poor, the welding is terrible, the painting is sloppy. They are not getting my money again!!!

I made the huge mistake of getting an Aero replacement tank in 1997. It was very poorly made and leaked immediately when I first filled it. I took it to a local welding shop to see if it could be fixed and the owner said it "looks like a 7 year old welded it up. " When I called Aero and told them about the leaking welds the shop manager, Jim, told me to rub a bar of soap on the weld to try to seal it.

Had to deal with a super-snotty lady to try to return the tank: she refused. I called back and spoke to a very nice lady who had taken the order. She arranged the refund.

Unless they have completely overhauled that company I wouldn't buy a thing from them. I will never forget that product!

I sure am happy I seen this thread, as I'm currently looking for a larger tank and Aero was on my list to look at. Thanks to all you fellas for the honest feedback on these, you probably just saved me a load of cash. I will keep looking for a tank, but not at the Aero... thanks again.

I was also looking for a new tank for my 2005. Aero Tank looked promising, as they now have a 60 gallon replacement tank for our CDT's. Called them and was surprised that the final cost, was not the $458 in their literature, but $622 when you got all the extra fittings required to mount it. That didn't include the freight cost to ship it.

When I read the above post, that sealed the deal. I will look elsewhere, or just build one for the bed like the one in my 2001... Thanks for the report... :)

I don't know if Transfer Flow offers a tank for Gen III trucks yet but the tanks for Gen II trucks are of very high quality and the company is very pleasant and professional to deal with. Build quality is excellent, fit and finish are correct, and function is as designed and advertised.

After a few months and lots of miles I experienced a minor problem with the mini-computer that reads fuel level in the OEM factory tank and turns on the transfer pump. I was able to speak directly with the engineer who designed the product. He sent me test procedures and wiring diagrams via e-mail and was readily available to assist in identifying and solving the problem. Once the mini-computer was determined to be the cause he overnighted a replacement to me free of charge. I enthusiastically endorse and recommend Transfer Flow. TF is a TDR advertiser.

I have no personal interest in TF other than as a satisfied customer.

Not looking to pile on but....

Aero had a booth at the TDR/So Cal Rattlin Rams event last year and had a tank on display. All I can say is WOW. The tank they had on display had absolutely the worst seam welds I have ever seen. Like someone said in a previous post, the tank looked like a two year old did the welding.

Bought a 60 gal replacement tank from them for my '01. While visiting family near there, had them install it. Heard cussing and raisin' hell words from beyond the shop wall while the installation was being done. Gal there won the business from a divorce settlement, she runs hot and cold, depending on ?????? They also drill the frame for mounting, a DC no-no. They just don't seem to understand there are new criteria for dealing with the new frames on the new trucks. I bought a 60 gal replacement tank from SuperTanks, the outfit in Idaho for my '03, just received it today. Mounting is the same as stock. Cost was $925 including shipping. Give it a thought... ... ... ... ... . Phone is 801-544-9330, Jerrod (SLC) in Utah. Tank looks great.

I feel bad to get in this thread but purchased a custom made tank for a CJ8 I was going to put a fuel injected smallblock into and not only was their work very poor the people in the office were the pits to deal with--the male I spoke with seemed to be one of the welders and I have delt with more pleasant drunks and the lady was not a whole lot better--avoid!!

While they don't make replacement tanks, I have been pretty pleased with the service/people from RDS, who makes the aux tank/tool combo I have.

I'm in the aux tank market also, I called for some info and think I got the mean lady (I hope she was the mean one) if she wasnt I dont want to meet the mean one. During the conversation I stumbled onto the fact that it was an extra $325 for the internals to make the aux tank work. I was set back after the conversation, especially their attitude and this thread seals the deal for me. Aero is definately not in my future.
