I ordered my truck with the alloy rims to find they were not dull satin, but polished forged aluminum.

Has anyone else received these on their '04's? What a surprise it was. I mentioned to the salesperson they may have the wrong rims on the truck and he was concerned and wanted to know if I wanted them replaced.

NO WAY!! These look great!!

Sweet! Your rims combined with the fact that the "painted aluminum wheels" are on production hold leads me to believe that you are indeed right... those will probably be the '05 rims. YIPEEEEEE! That's exactly what I was going to do to my rims if they came painted, so now I don't have to! :D

Do you have a part # for those wheels,I was going to get aftermarket, but I like the stock wheels. . Thanks

By the way that is a SWEET looking truck:D

Those look great! I wonder how difficult it would be to polish the painted ones and to get results like that? It would take some work but worth the effort.

My boss just bought an 04. 5 that had those wheels. They were the 1st thing I noticed. I didn't know they were a new style and was kicking myslf for not ordering them. I guess I wouldn't have been able to get them anyway in January. So, what's the price on a set of 4 with lug nuts?

It wouldn't be that hard. If they hadn't done it already, that's what I was going to do with mine. A quick glass beading, sanding with 240 then 400 then 600 and then some buffing with Mother's polish and a air die grinder with buffing wheel on it and they'll shine like the sun. After that a quick clear powdercoat would keep them lookin spiffy... might even look better than the factory shiny ones.

I don't know what the pricing would be, they gave me an option for alloys or chromed steel wheels. They were the same price. So since I have a set of chromed wheels, I opted for the alloys and was pleasantly surprised.

They should be available in the future as people want to pull them off for bigger and better tires and rims.

While it was to be expected, I'm still p****ed that DC couldn't give buyers the option of having those lousy alloy wheels in a polished and/or chrome version. I went nuts trying to get the heavy chrome steel wheels from the SLT's for my Laramie after paying a premium and getting those dull looking silver satin alloys. I waited more than five months for this stinkin' truck, ordered every option, and still had to replace my wheels because I couldn't get what I wanted. Now they're appearing gratis on newly delivered 04. 5's (my truck was delivered in May). Plus they're giving you the ORWL's instead of the black side walls(Even Tire Rack only gets $5/tire for ORWL over the RBL Michelin's. . I know because I just bought 'em for the chrome jobs) GRRRRRRR, LOL!

The new rims are listed in the order sheet as forged, not cast. Yes, they do have the same visual design, but think of all the "classic 8 hole" dually wheels that look exactly the same but are cast compared to Alcoa's forged wheels.
