Bigger and better towing mirrors. Those little convex mirrors are a hazard at night and they are in the wrong position when towing.

1) lockable tailgate

2) auto headlights (automatically go on when dark)

3) factory remote start as an option vs Mopar add-on

4) electronic closing side view mirrors

5) bigger gas tank

6) back-up sensors

Thinking "out loud" here...

How are they a hazard? Where else should they be for towing? I see you have a 2500, for the 3500 dually they have to be where they are. I guess with SRW they would work fine on the inside corner. DC should have used a different arrangement for SRW and DRW.

Maybe it's my old eyes but I think they are too small. Also in the nontowing position they are in the upper outside corner which is good. But in the towing they're in the lower outside corner where they block an important part of the flat mirror. It's funny, when I first was shopping for my truck I thought those mirrors were really cool, now I'm thinking about replacing them.

A few months ago there was a thread about swapping the glass from the left and right mirrors to reposition the bubble mirror. They're not a perfect rectangle so they won't fit perfectly and the wire harness won't reach.

Personally, I prefer one large slightly convex mirror on the right side like my old '91 F250 and my friend's '04 Silverado 1500 but the mirrors don't make the truck.

Thats interesting. For towing I think they are in the right place, where you can use em to see the trailer tires. Being in the upper corner when not towing drives me crazy. Different strokes...

I too agree the blind spot is in the wrong place. If you want to see where the tires are on the trailer when on a tight corner, you sure can't judge it on the blind spot mirror. Actually I would sooner have the old 4 point stainless tow mirrors that came on the '96. You could hang a spot mirror wherever you wish, and have the cb antennaes on there too. The blind spot definately should never be on the flat mirror, but mounted/adjusted seperately.

Using my 2005 to pull a Heavy Teton Fifth Wheel. 3500 Dually with all towing options. Levels out well and Does a great job with no additional after market additions. Traveled 11,000 miles tis past summer. Had a 2001 prior to this one and did as well.

I bought my Dodge because it had solid axles and the Cummins. Period. Now that I've spent some time with it, here's my list:

Dana axles

Disconnects up front

Rear fender Liners

Comfortable front seats

Real auto transmission

Trans temp gauge (granted a factory one wouldn't be good enough... )

Real QC - the QC is too small, the Mega is too big

Mega Cab (or real QC) with DRW long bed

If *I* were buying a new truck...

1) Cummins option in a Megacab LONG BED POWERWAGON!!!!! (SRW)

2) Bed should be made of plastic-- entirely. Some really thick HDPE #2 would work well. No dents, no rust, just a strong as steel. Perfect! Toyota has this figured out, so even Dodge could grasp it.

3) An innovative built-in bed rack system, like Nissan has on their trucks.

4) The biggest FOX bypass shocks that will fit--- stock!

5) Lower quarters and bumper should be covered with spray-in bedliner stuff like Line-x

6) Thicker sheetmetal

7) Better seats. How 'bout some thick cushy jobs with LOTS of side bolstering, built in heat and cooling, and inflatable lumbar? Oh, and make them wide-- lots of us Dodge guys are pretty wide (though I'm 6'1" and 215#, others are not)

8)HID headlights, from the factory. Taillights should be LED.

9) All interior lighting is LED, not regular bulbs.

10) *FULL* instrumentation with premium ANALOG aftermarket gauges. Make mine Autometer NV series. I want to know oil temp and pressure, intake air temp and pressure, coolant temp, electrical system voltage AND current, and exhaust temp and pressure (drive pressure). Yes, the dash would look like a cockpit, and that's quite fine with me.

11) Massive amounts of soundproofing and thermal insulation. At least 3/4" thick of premium damping material. Exhaust should be loud outside, but interior should be vault-silent. Double-paned glass, hermetically sealed, whatever.

12) Electric heat augmentation. You shouldn't have to wait for the mighty Cummins to warm up before you get heat. Install an electric aux heater for the HVAC so you get cab heat even with a warm engine.

13) Better OEM tires. The wheels are fine, but why can't we get something other than the crappy bad-for-a-year tires or the Michelin slicks? Ricksons would be fine with me!

14)Factory-installed B&W, the turnover ball with companion. Does it get better? OK, maybe the air hitch...

15) Carbon-fiber interior trim looks good to me. I also like wood, the the current wood-look is just too fake looking and plasticky.

That's all I can think of for now...

What do you suppose your dream truck would cost?

Cab Options

I know its not for everyone, but I would like to them offer a quad cab like my 02 again. For me being in a wheelchair it is much easier putting my chair in the back seat with the suicide style doors, than it is with 4 doors.

LMAO, I like the way you think... . Hey, DC; you need to hire this guy! I'll be his assistant, what you don't think of I'll back you up. How about some real damn wheels, not simulated crap.

Heck, I'm not shooting for the moon. If they could just thicken the metal and the paint a little that would be great. I could sit on the front fender of my 1969 VW Beetle (cost $2100) without bending it--I sure wouldn't try to put the same weight on the fender of my truck. It's supposed to be HEAVY DUTY!!!

Enjoy reading all these wishes. But have to ask: Are you building one of those behemoth pick- ups that is really a medium duty truck (like that so- called International Harvester 'pick- up')... or... is a really a pick- up truck that we all own of the 'light- duty' truck genre?

I would like to see all of these ideas come to fruitation on a truck trhat is of the current size. If I need a Mega Monster (not to be confused with the Mega cab)... then I would have gotten a Freightliner. I want a pick -up... alas, a real pick- up though.

I will vote for this also. Ford still has them. Are you listening DC?
