Anyone had this TSB done go bad?

08-004-03 is for:

Electro mechanical instrument cluster (MIC) erroneous indicator lamps.

Three conditions have been identified which may be caused by communication errors between the electro mechanical instrument cluster (MIC) and other electronic modules on the vehicle. 1. An intermittent false “Check Gauges” on diesel engine equipped vehicles. 2. An intermittent false chime and “Low Wash” indicator. 3. A “Trans Temp” indicator on a manual transmissions equipped vehicle.

This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the MIC with new software.

When they first tried it the dash lost all info so they had to replace the entire cluster. It was fine for a couple days and now I get the same intermittent false chime

I reprogrammed the cluster to open all doors with one press of the fob, deprogrammed the auto door lock feature and deprogrammed the horn chirp when you lock the truck with the fob.

Did that when I bought it and had to redo it again with the new cluster and am wondering if maybe its related??

Anyone else?

Ok so its not intermittent, its always there- that extra chime when your getting ready to go and I just figured it out so thought I better let anyone know that was bummed like me.

If you turn off the feature where the doors lock you in @ 15mph you will always get an extra chime when taking off.

So you have to decide do you want to be bothered by the extra chime or bothered with having you and passengers unexpectedly locked in when trying to get out.

I had turned that off so passengers wouldn't have to unlock their door first be for trying to get out plus where we live their aren't any boggie men.

It took me three trips before I could even get them to do something about it. Once done though I have had no more problems. Mine was the Check guages light popping on for a split second every couple of days.

Hey JHByers,

I had that one too and thought it would also take care of the extra chime when taking off. It did till I turned off the auto door lock feature so that chime is a reminder that were not locked in.

Had mine done for the Check Gages light going off at will , was fine till a couple of weeks ago on a cross country trip. Everything is reading normal so I think till I have something worthwhile to visit Mr dealer with I will just live with it for now.

I disabled the auto lock on mine the first day, 8/03, and mine does not chime. Maybe it is only on auto's??

Hrmm... I wonder if its there but your start up procedure doesn't show it.

I hop in and turn the key for the heater, the seat belt chime starts going and I latch the belt while its chiming and the chime stops- heater lamp goes out and once I start up here comes one extra chime for the door lock notify.

Now if I never latch my belt-- the belt chime and the last door lock notify chime run together so it appears it's all seat belt chime.

In yet another scenario If I latch my belt first before turning the key I am rewarded with no chimes at all- not even the last one:)

I just got in the habit last winter of turning the key first to get the heater grid going, now I need to get that belt latched first if I don't want to hear it:rolleyes:

Please tell me it's not just my truck doing this... .
