I have an 08 2500 6. 7L that did not want to start the other afternoon all it would do is make a clicking noise that sounds like a relay clicking thought maybe the starter or batteries? Was able to get it started after trying to jump start it. Drove it for about 30 min shut off and was able to restart it right away. I took the batteries out and had them load tested and tested good. After the truck has set for 3 days truck is still able to start right up. Is this a starter issues or something else?

Batteries are about 2 years old, and shortly after I made my first post I went to go mess with truck again and it would not start again, this afternoon I tried to start it again and it started right up. The cables are clean and tight, and do not see anywhere where they are broke.

You have a battery with a bad cell that is affected by temperature. On all of my Rams, ( 05, 08, and current 10 ) I had to replace my batteries after about 2 years.

If you have the Denso starter it should have a starter solenoid which has contacts in it. They mite be worn out. Contacts can be replaced

Also the wire cable from battery going inte pdc or what ever they call it in. third greneration trucks mite have loose cnnection.

Have a 2007 3500 DRW and I replaced my batteries at 5 years even though they still worked. Are they the stock OEM batteries? There are a number of issues here such as the number of times starting the truck and winter temps. Best battery for the price is Costco at about $85/per. good luck. .
