Well I felt very good about my times, It's fun to beat all of those imports.
If my truck's weight was 6400 lbs what would the calculated H. P be?

Might be important to include the temperture and elevation... ... just for informational purposes #ad

I take it this was at Bandimere?

Temp 66
Relative Humidity 68
Absolute Barometer 23. 34
It was at Bandimere and I dont know the elevation. A guess would be over 5000.

Good times especialy considering the altitude. I know a turbo motor makes its own atmosphere to an extent but turbo lag is alot worse in the thin air conditions you see up there. Is the transmission stock?

I'm wondering about the transmission too, thinking about this same combo but wondering if it could hold it. See sig below.

NO the transmission can NOT hold the power. My TC is about dead. I'm planning on new TC and VB.

Jordan,

You should pic up some time with a new TC. I assume you will go with DTT. I am getting my back tomorrow with a DTT 91% and VB. Bill will want to put you in a 88% because of you altittude. He almost did it to me but on altitude 3300' but said I would be fine with my HP. I will report back tomorrw on the TC.

When I gave you a ride I weighed 8000lbs. How do you think mine would run after you had yours on the track?

Brant

p. s. where are those pics? I need to see some smoke. lol

Brant- I will get those to you. Your sled pull pictures are crazy, wish I could have been there. Kevin Arts has a 91% in his truck, I didn't know altitude makes a difference? Could you explain?

I bet your truck would be in the 14's, but you could find out yourself by going to bandimere for the Cummins and diesel racing the 2nd and the 3rd. I can't go the 2nd but I could make it the 3rd.

Jordan,

Go with the 91%!!! Both Laser Bob and I have them in our trucks and it is awesome. Altitude doesn't make a difference on how the TC works... though it did have a strange affect on my 2-3 shift. Though Bill knew the fix and got me up and running with no prob. Before you purchase it, let me know so that I can talk to Bill and see if you will need this.

Brant... when are you going to be here in Denver next so that we can get you on the track? BTW. . nice pull!!!

Kevin,

I am very busy here farming, so I can't say for sure cause I don't have schedualeds days or weekends off. The only reason I made the meeting at Jordans was because it rained the friday night before.

IF it rains big, (it is t-storm season) then I may load up and come.

Interesting topic, JKloppe.

I have HP formulas from a Mopar Magazine, that I have put on my computer. For my motorcycle (that I had) the numbers were extremely accurate to what the magazines were dyno testing. But for this drag run it seems to be less accurate due to the extreme bottom end of the Cummins. But here's what the formulas say.

HP 1/8th mile:

HP due to 1/8 time and 6400 lbs: 347. 97
HP due to 1/8 speed and 6400 lbs: 285. 60

HP 1/4th mile:

HP due to 1/4 time and 6400 lbs: 281. 74
HP due to 1/4 speed and 6400 lbs: 242. 36

My guess is that if your truck is an auto then it would be a little faster if you could get the transmission to shift a little sooner and take advantage of the bottom end power of the Cummins, such the 1/8th mile times reflects. Also, the formulas I used assume that the truck and driver weighs 6400 lbs. Are you sure the combo isn't heavier than that?

The last thing I'd like to add is that in the Mopar magazine, it said that the speed related formulas tended to be more accurate. I'd say that is for sure the case here. And I'd bet your pushing about 280 H. P. to the ground (but losing a little H. P. on the 2nd half of the 1/4 mile due to the extended higher revs). I also did some manipulations to the formulas to make them predict the E. T. and speed given H. P. and weight. Those formulas said your max (if you could stay at the optimum engine H. P. range) would be 16. 42 seconds and 83. 00 mph in the 1/4 mile. #ad

I hope this info was halfway informative.
