Dont everyone laugh too hard at my times. I really never drag raced my old heavy truck until tonight.
My truck weighed in at a healthy 8775lbs. She is tad fat for drag racing but... .
first time 2wheel drive dumped clutch at 3000 rpm at spun the rears to the tune of 10. 67=YUK.
Second time 2wheel drive I was more conservative at the light and went a 10. 54=YUK again.
Third time I was in 4wheel drive to help control the wheel spin and did a pretty harsh launch and went a 9. 86
Fourth time was a 4 wheel drive at easier out of the box and went a 9. 67.
Water temps were getting a little warm and I let her cool down a bit.
Went back in 4wheel drive at went a 9. 274 at about 76 MPH.
The Southbend held tight as he!! even with a very hard 3500RPM launch in 4 wheel drive.
Im learning to chill a bit on the line and to shift earlier. I was shifting at about 3800-3900 rpm one the slower runs and started shifting around 3200-3400 and the times got better.
I need to work out my reaction times too. My best R?T was a lousy 1. 12 something. You dont want to know the worst.
Shes got a high 8 in her I know... I just need to learn how to drive it. DA me did look down at the tach once and saw I was past the red 4000 rpm OOOPPPS! Gov springs can get you into trouble fast
Don~
edit- I wanted to add that I followed another guy from Ft Worth tonight to the track. He had a 2001 5 speed truck with BD stage 2 injectors and some kinda poweredge box on his dash with a stock turbo. Turned on what he called 5 his best time was about a 9. 70. He had a weight of about 6800 lbs.
He had 3. 54 gears I have 4. 10's. How much power do you guys think he makes with his truck? I have little experince with the 24 valve stuff. Oh, he was hooked up to his pump wire with this thingee on the dash.
If he has a 1900 pound advantage on me I wondered how much power he had if I was able to drive around him with a 9. 27.
this drag racing stuff is too cool. People were freakin out on the times as I drove around some rice rockets.
