i would like to know, have always wanted to do this in my personal truck

It can and has been done. You would need the overdrive model and 3. 50 gears. It has a shallow overdrive at 0. 80. The direct drive would be way to slow with any thing less than about a 2. 70/2. 90 rear axle.

I run eaton fuller 10 speeds at work and am real familiar with them, was hoping I could use one of those

Thats what this thread is about, Eaton RT/RTO 610/6610. What size are you running, medium duty/heavy duty, older or newer trucks? Medium duty trucks use direct drive 10 speeds for the most part. Also as the power increases in this day and age, the transmissions are getting bigger. Just a thought.

I had never heard the technical name for the trans before so I didn't know we were talking about the same thing. I run an 08 damn emmisions straight truck. So how does a guy mate them together. Dodge clutch and machine an adapter plate and the input shaft or use h/d parts? Small air compressor and tank to run the spliter, but then what about a trans case?

Did you read the complete thread? There is some good reading here and some previous 10 speed threads, do a search, you will find a lot of info.

You will need a remote mount transfer case. If you need more info, I can help some, even tho I have not changed one out, I have done a lot of research.

i figured id have to run a remote mounted t case, but still havent figured out how to mate the two together

There is no mating a remote transfer case to the transmission, it is joined by a drive shaft. It will need to be mounted with the same angle as the transmission/engine angle.

i ment how to mate the motor and trans

Oops sorry:eek: See post 50 on this thread. The "only" clutch housing available on the Eaton RT/RTO 6610 is of the SAE style in several sizes, with the SAE# 2 being the smallest. SAE or (Society of Automotive Engineers) is a standard that all industrial manufactures use. They go from SAE#00 (the biggest) inside machined surface is 31" to SAE#6 at 10. 5" the SAE#2 is 17 5/8", with an outside diameter of 19 1/4.

The smallest housing the Cummins 5. 9 uses is the #3, 16 1/8" but like I said the transmission's smallest is #2.
