Today's Posting from the Bangor PD...

Don't see this in the news very often......

Please check in. I curious to know how many active 10 yr. (or longer) members we have left.
Robin, do you have these stats?
Thanks Skydiver.

Doesn't seem like ten years have passed. I have enjoyed the ride, as there has been quite a cast of characters here, both past and present.

Well not quite 10 years. Will be in Feb/11.

One thing I have noticed over the years is that the diesel aftermarket has come a long long way (duh). Used to see more experimentation threads on what works, what doesnt, how and why something works, what is the real problem as oppossed to the symptom (a few very old lift pump threads come to mind). I guess it boils down to a more mature industry (diesel aftermarket). While I have done my share of experimenting on what works for me as most have I do miss some of the old posters as I learned a ton from them (the late HVAC comes to mind among many others) and they saved me many busted knuckles, many hours and many dollars. Not implying that the site is not helpful as it is still very helpful it just seems a bit different help and please forgive the way this is stated but due to all the advances in the diesel aftermarket and newer technolgy used it now seems somewhat dumbed down from my early days (even though it may be more complicated due to that technology). I suspect that is just natural evolution of any industry. Once a problem, issue or enhancement is completely figured out why not use that info instead of reinventing the wheel. Throw the new technology in that the average shadetree mechanic cant deal with or troubleshoot due to not having the $50,000 test stand/computer (or whatever peice of equipment) in his garage or basement you have to rely on the vendors expertise more. Back then and previous to my early days they (they being the members of this site) seemed to be inventing the wheel so to speak or better put inventing the diesel aftermarket industry.

I joined TDR almost as soon as it went online (August 1999) where it mostly transitioned over from the old Cummins Diesel Website. CDW wasn't affiliated with TDR but since CDW was the #1 Cummins enthusiast hangout at the time and TDR didn't have a website it was a natural transition.

I think it does bear mentioning some of the pioneers, enthusiasts and board contributors over the years. . . names such as HVAC (Nowel Thomas), Sport Bike, David_VT, Ted Jannetty, Mopar-Muscle, Scotty (Massdiesel), Scott-1 (Psychotty intake fame), Marco, illflem, Gary K7 GLD, I also like to think the NW Bombers had a lot of contribution and involvement, ie Bob Wagner, Rob Hanson, Evan Beck, MikeR, Andy Perrault. . . the list goes on and on.

Sure been a great trip the last 10 years, wouldn't trade it for anything!

14 years and counting, I joined aprox six months(about the same time I bought a Factory Service Manual) after I got the Mule(Feb 96).

Joined TDR around 96 or so . 550-600k miles on 5 different CTD's to date... 234 k on the '03 alone ! First came across TDR people late '93, 94 when I drove a rig around the country promoting he 2 nd gen when it came out... seems like yesterday !! Anyone here remember taking a test drive in one way back then ?? Provided you CAN remember that far back !!! :-laf

Been over 10 years for me. . been a good ride so far.

I'm on my 4th CTD in that amount of time... ... . the 04 being the one I've had the longest at 4 years, going on 5.

When i bought my truck there was a add for the TDR in the literature which sparked my curiosity. The first issue I received of the mag was # 16 and bought all the back issues to # "1". I'd have to look on my posts to see when I joined the Forum. Looks like 01, but l was a lurker before that, And not computer savey by any means. What would we do with out computers now?

One of the best moves I made along with the purchase of my TRUCK.

Update:

I joined on 01-08-2001

I've been around close to ten years I think... had a 99, a 2001 and on my 2nd 2003. I did test drive a new 95 or 96 model (first gen, i think) but was not "rich" enough to afford it yet.
