Today's Posting from the Bangor PD...

Don't see this in the news very often......

I joined after buying the '96 in November of "95 but can not remember the exact date (CRS) strikes again.. So if I was to guess I would say sometime in the middle of 1996:).

Web site join date says Feb 2000

Tracy

I joined in 1999, sold my home went on an extended trip across the US in 2005 and then moved to South Africa for a year. Re-joined in 2007. I have built my truck up over the years, using this site. I like it today more than the day I bought it 12 years ago. Everything I have ever done was with the help and advice of the smart people on this site. I can not thank them enough.

The first issue of the TDR in my name is issue 10 Fall of 1995. I've been a member ever since. However when I look at the date under my moparguy name I see 11-1-99 as join date. And I guess that's right, that's about the time we got the first PC for our home use and I joined online .

Also on post count, something happened is the early 2000's, the TDR made a change that caused a loss of post count for all members, don't recall details, just that many were upset that the count was reset to zero.

It was different here in the early days, we had some great posters, guys breaking new ground taking our trucks where no diesel truck had ever been. Much credit should go to those guys for the advances made back then in the Dodge diesel horsepower wars. My only modest contribution was discovering and naming the BHAF in 01 in the thread linked below.

One name not mentioned so far, Dr. Joe Donnley. We used to have some spirted discussions and Joe was always a part of those, he was and is the Cummins Dodge guru.

I think I'm going to bow out this year. My 2002 is my last truck purchase and they don't make them like they used to. With that being said. . .

They have changed the Dodge so much it looks more and more like the Ford every time I look at one. I really have a hard time telling the difference between a ram and a ford dually going down the road. I truely believe the Chev has the best looking truck on the market today. If I were to buy one today that's what it would be. They have changed the Dodge so much they are calling it a "ram". And there is less and less that intrests me in TDR magazine. I used to look forward to tearing the cover off the TDR magazine and look through the pages for an hour or sow just to see what's new to the truck. The last issue didn't even make in the house after it came in the mail. It sat on the shelf next to the door in the garage for a week. I have maintained my intrest here as long as I can. I have no interest in which of the big 3's diesel is the quietest, or want to be educated on pdf's, eurea injection, regeneration cycles, cat converters, egr's on what was the last "real" truck ever built. 2002!

I do want to add that all the staff here at TDR and at Geno's Garage have been top notch over the years.

1994 here. I seem to remember my membership number was around 3,000 something. Didn't get on-line until later...

Crazy Horse, I'm in somewhat the same spot. The magazine was once gotta read cover to cover. Now the only reason I keep paying the membership is two Dodge Diesels we have and the help I can find online both with the search button and from the membership should I need help. Most times it's "been there done that" but everyonceinawhile something new crops up and the TDR members come thru making the membership dues a bargain.

Having said all the above, I'm likely on the short list of members as well.

We'll see. Good luck.

Where can you buy this much FUN and ENTERTAINMENT for 35. 00 per year. Friends you meet PRICELESS. Plus solving one problem pays the dues. I will never own anything but a 2nd or 1st gen. Stick around guys, us old f--ts need support.

I can remember how I ended up here like it was just yesterday... .

I had gone to Englishtown,NJ with a very close friend of mine who races a SS/AA Hemi Dart for a Hemi Shootout and we towed it there with my truck as his new one had not come in yet(I had just bought John's old 93 2wd Ext Cab LE equipped with a Cummins that was Intense Blue in color). We were in a lull period between rounds and I was detailing the pick-up and a older gentleman came to me and asked if I was a TDR member. I had to tell him I did not know what he was talking about and he gave me one of his old magazines to have and read.

Not having a computer back in those days it took me until a couple of years later to end up here and finally join. So I am not yet a 10yr member but in March of this year I will be and I still have that magazine that was given to me way back when by that gentleman. I only wish he had not removed his name and address so I could thank him for all the savings throughout the years and all the fun we have here still.

Yep,this place has seen many come and go over the years and with the way to many free Cummins sites we lost a few more but I still find myself coming home here to where I have met many friends thoughout the years. I still can not wait for the newest magazine to come just as it was in the beginning... ..... Andy

P. S. -Its good to see Dan and Fireman Dave pop back in and say hello also... Ah Yes... Chatroom Reunion?????

Well, thanks for missing me guys!

Issue 70 just came, first issue was 13 divide by 4 issues a year = 14. 25 years? Cant be that long.

I think I joined in 99 (jan 2000)after Steve, not sure.

I do know if it wasn't for the Pattons and TDR, My pulling history and Diesel motor sports would not be where they are today, good or bad!:-laf

Transmission, clutch and oil wars, those were the days.

Anyone heard from Doc Tinker or Power Wagon? Group purchase Carl? Radixr?

And for the record- 12 Valve P-Pumps STILL RULE
And, I never quit using Amsoil, no matter how many anti-synthetic posts or articles from the weak minded, insisting Rosmella is bestest:D;).

TDR will always remain my number one source forever. The bonds I have made here will last forever.

The early days were wild.

My actual join date was 04/2000 but a name change undid my join date.

\Mark aka Power Wagon still lives in Oregon and does post on the NW Bombers site,

Doc Tinker now there is a blast from the past...

OH man... Join date of April 03. So not 10 years. I bought my truck in the fall of 02. I had heard of the TDR, but was to stubborn to Join. Duluth Diesel joined before me, and being my best friend handed me a TDR mag when I was visiting him in Duluth. Of course I couldn't put it down and joined very shortly after.

Since. . Man, life has changed. I've had some times away because of finances (hard to believe a guy can't come up with $35, but kids take priority!), but the friends and folks that I'd call family are irreplaceable. All because of the TDR.

Anyone know where ToolmanTimTaylor (exact wording?) went? I haven't seen or heard from him since IRP when the waitress went on a 5 min tie-raid about how the time change was so rough on them now that they had to do it... . HILLARIOUS!

Don't forget when "GREAT SMOKE STORIES" got started off in October of 2002... all the tree huggers and irate posters that passed in and out of the TDR since then. . We still have people like CF who post their 'ideas', but we all know they mean no harm. . it sure is great to reminesce...
