Who would pay 1000. 00 for 4 Toyo 33x12. 50x18? They are used with 200 miles on them. Two still have the nipples on the tread. I can't find them anywhere new. Les Schwab sells them for 288. 00 when there in stock. Been on Back Order for 2 months now. Thats 1250. 00 new if I could wait but i need tires.

Two hundred miles on a set of tires is nothing. I would check for obvious damage and see if they hold pressure. If I were in the market for those tires, I would buy 'em. I would ask if there were balancing issues with the tires, could be they were made in a bad batch. Good luck!

Don't forget Cooper's STT tire, 35x12. 50R18 are available and 33x12. 50's are on the way too, can't remember if the 33's will be 17 or 18.

Good point on the balacing thing, that didn't cross my mind being Toyo. These would be from the first batch. Most dealers haven't even laid hands on them. There will be no way to check them when I pick them up.

When did they start making those?? If I could have gotten those in a 33, I would have kept my KORE wheels. I knew this would happen :-laf . Now that I sold my 18's, you guys can expect a steady stream of new 18" tires to start hitting the market. . :-laf

Cali, I'd be all over those if I were you assuming they are not being sold because they couldn't be balanced, but of course I doubt the seller will be real honest about why they had them for only 200 miles. . BTW- I sold my Toyo 35" MT's for $850 with approx 850 miles on them.

Edit- According to Toyo's website those tires are only rated to 2910 lbs. That seems low for an E rated tire based on what I have seen. It that too low???

That is exactly why I don't pay any attention whatsover to the D or E ratings.

That being said... on another thread and I forget which tire was being talked about, the website had a lowish number listed for pounds and somebody who actually had the tire gave what was printed on the tire itself and that was different (higher). I'm pretty sure it was Toyos being talked about.

The website could be wrong.

Edit: I found the thread. It was about Toyo 285/70R17 Open Country AT. The website says 2755 pounds (so I ruled those out as an option for me). However, the site also gives the load index as being 121S which = 3195 pounds and that is what the owner reported as having printed on his tire. So I now consider these as an option for the next time I need tires.

For the 33x18 MT it says 2910 and the load index is 118Q = 2910. So E-rated or not, I wouldn't get those tires.

The Q and the S with those load index numbers is the speed rating. Q = 99 mph, S = 112 mph.

I love my Toyo 35's. After about 4k on them, most of that off road, they hardly show any wear. Sounds like a fair deal, especially since it'll take a long time to order...

If I could only have a few words with Toyo's Web Site Content Engineer. :-{}

33x12. 50x18 M/T is E Rated which means a load index of 121 or 3195lb.

Just like the T/A you were looking at off on the #r's.

Funny the 285x60x18 Toyo A/T is only B Rated. :--) What gives?

If I get the tires I will confirm this to be another goof by Toyo's Web site info.

Does anyone recognize the wheel in the initial post? I like the look of that, and would be interested to know more about it.

Alex,

Reconsider. The Open County AT doesn't hold up on our trucks. Used mine up in about 20K miles. Dealers like Les Schwab acknowledge they aren't up to it.

Cali,

Sorry about the blank PM. Something is hosed up. I typed you another reply today but this time used the "preview post" function before sending - the body of the message comes up blank. Just for the hell of it I also tried just initiating a new PM to you and that also shows up blank when I try to preview it.

If anyone has an idea why PM would flake-out like this please help... .

What is it about the tires, they are acknowledging, doesn't hold up? What in your opinion would be a better, 10 ply, 265/70/17 AT tire?

Regards,

The tire guys just say the tire won't handle the torque (gotta love that!). The diesels just wear them out too fast. Not just CTDs, the other guys too.

Some guys have claimed to get great mileage out of certain Michelins, Goodyears, and BFG. Just sorta hit and miss. So far my Toyo M55's are doing OK, but I doubt I'll get 40K out of them. If I was easy on the throttle maybe. But then... ;)

I had the same problem. It turned out to be a option in the email setting. I ended up getting the ATZ's anyway. Here are a few pictures.
