From what I've gathered recently, keeping the EGTs down with forged pistons is running 1300 max.

1300 is high for a PS :-laf

Its not how hot you get as much as how long the temp can stay in long enough to soak into the motor parts and do its carnage.

GLHS, after reading those posts for the length of time that they went on for I never ended up reading on how everyone fudged their #'s and whatever else went on so I said "the he!! with it!".

But I do know the ATS transmission in the D-max in the 1/4 went south. :D

Has this magazine come out yet? Offroad March edition? Congrats Maddog! I never believed you when you said you would run 10. 50 back in early 2004, but damn was I wrong.

I wonder what the correction factor will be... ... 12-16% or so, that would put my old motor at 888-920 HP, shame it's a thing of the past.

I was told Richard used drugs on his 800+ run. Regardless, he, Jim, etc. will get over 800 on #2 only sometime if they haven't already. They are running twin turbos. I admit I was stirring the pot a bit, since nothing had been said for some time about hp #s and it was about time :D I'd still like to see them run over 800 with a screwdriver through the second turbo so only one is working Oo. Or, lets see 900+ using both of them, since twins are supposed to add about 100 hp. May Madness should be interesting.

Joe, I've got a question for you... ... seriously here folks. How much better do you think Twins are over your Bell Single, we all know that it is the end all of singles but how much better is say my set of Twins verses it, you know from M/M that I was only running 73 psi on the dyno and you ran at 60 psi with the single. I'm not being sarcastic here I really want to know, hope to make it out there again for M/M and maybe I will cure some truck issues this time around as everything in it is getting looked at or changed.

Jim, a large single will have a hard time making the torque of compounds, especialy if you are talking about one that can supply enough cfm and boost to make say 600+hp on a 5. 9.

And in regards to correction factors pun, I would put up a bunch of money to say that you couldn't break 800 up here on the old load monster :p ... oh wait, what is this..... http://www.tdr1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120688... :-laf Love ya man.

Without a correction factor that would be impossible for me to do 800 in that thin air, but even harder now that it's just a short block (old one) sitting in the truck and waiting on another one (in the shop floor) for it's replacement. Work has not be kind to getting it finished anytime soon then there is the breakin time.

Jim

700. 17 miles from Newcastle, OK to Arvada, CO..... looks like some good break-in miles :D

On edit: Why don't you tell people the truth about when we were in Vegas, JIM? When Gary and I were in the back of your truck, we broke it. Oo.

Jim that new cam in your short block should help you to build more boost over your stock cam on the dyno. A good cam will drive the turbo(s) hard. Just make sure you get'er degreed in right.

I've never run that Bell vs. twins, but boost psi isn't the only goal--it's cool boosted air for more molecules per cfm. Twins should help there because a single is over its map at high pressure. You could be the proud owner of that Bell which is just sitting on my shelf, adapters, pipes, etc. all gathering dust because "Junior" isn't worthy of it :D

I hear you on the cam, Piers sent the shortblock done.

Jake, it needs allot more miles than that for a break in, heck I don't even know my schedule this weekend.

I've seen the Bell sitting on Joe's workbench. Man is it huge! I'd like to have it sitting on my coffe table. Quite a converstion piece!

Funny you should mention that Joe. I happen to be in the market for a single. I unloaded all my antique EEP/Piers twin kits, and have to do battle against the twins, now.

Now wouldn't that be something if I was beating up on the midwest pullers with a single from Joe Bell? :D Give me a price!!

Ah screw break in time. My motor got about 20 feet of break in time... from the bay around to the dyno!

Problem is it's built tighter for longivity and not loose for racing so it takes more time to setup and not scuff the cyl walls... ... ..... yea I know but that's what the man wants to see so that's what I'll do.

Too slow..... Your not going to catch "Ernie" w/ times like that.

Hey, maybe you need to stack boxes :-laf

turbo

Gene. . Who is "Joe Bell"? i know of a Pius Eberle that owns "Bell Turbo" and a Joe D. :-laf ... i don't think you have enough fuel or cam to spool that monster :p
