Competition 1000 HP Suburban

Competition Sun Coast Launches a Winner!!

1000hp with a 5. 9L, been done, and its there.

And you can see it happen at Muncie.

Or check an online video of it here:

http://www.diesel-central.com/Video/Video.htm

Look for Shelby county pull and click on "kent crowder".

466 International inline 6 engines are hitting 3000hp with single turbo and water injection, from hypermax.

(pulling tractors for you westcoasters)

With the right shop, and an inline 6 with 359ci, a 1000hp engine is more than possible.

Just cause the person that owns it isnt all over TDR bragging about it doesnt mean it isnt out there.

By the way TWIN/compound setups do work, there are good examples of that in the SUPERstock class of tractor pulling.

To change the subject a little, it is the MIDWEST shops (Indiana, and Ohio) once again that are pioneering the way for extreme hp(non-street) applications of our precious little Cummins equipped pickups.

yep the midwest is pioneering stuff---is that why they are buying products from out here near San Francisco, CA to do their pioneering--and don't think I don't know --I've talked to some of the guys who bought the stuff and the guys who make and sell it----now with that being said it's not all from here and it's not all from back there--it's happening in both places, you guys need to take your blinders off and see beyond your hood----chris

I can't wait until I get to see some of the famed "700HP club" on an accurate Dyno.

As one that is in the bunch I have to agree with Gene here, this is what I really want to do more than anything, the more dyno's I can run at 700+ on shows me what I need to see, to date I have only broken the 700 mark on two dyno's but they were 2500 miles a part;)

Block- Put a torque plate on it and align bore and hone everything true. Drill out ALL the main caps and head bolt holes for them big 14mm studs and put a girdle on there, too. Now is the time to cut them big Van Haisley grooves in the block and head.

Pistons- custom jobs. Forged. 13 to 1 compression ratio or something real low. Fly cut 'em and cut the valve pockets, too. Send them off to Swain or somebody like that. when 'ya get 'em back, gather up all the pistons, rods, wristpins and crankshaft to have it all bluprinted and balanced. Assemble with your Total Seal ringsets and a new vibration damper.

High lift billet camshaft with the threaded end so the gear don't walk off. DD?

Head- 12 valve. Port and polish the thing wide open and while your at it, do the ATS pulse manifold, too. Do the valve seats and valves. Cut the receiving groove for the fire rings like the block. Go with a 20 over headgasket and get yourself a years supply of ether. Your gonna need some titanium valve springs. We goin' to rev this puppy! Assemble with your new ARP 14mm headstuds and torque 'em down to 150 pounds.

Twin Turbochargers- A B-1 and it's Big Brother, both hybrids with hardened shafts and zero balanced. Polish the compressors and port the exhaust housings. External wastegate.

Fuel pump- one of those 12 plunger competition jobs from Schied's.

Injectors- Do they make a Mach 9?

1 tank of water

1 bottle of Propane

1 bottle of NOS

Custom intercooler from Spearco with pre and post water injection nozzles.

On second thought screw the intercooler, just use a custom pipe with the water nozzles plumbed in to dual air intakes.

Where am I at? 700? 800?

Streetable? Depends on the street!

:D

So ya have an engine that makes 1k hp now how long does it last? 1 minute or 1 hr 1 day? 1 1/4 mile 1 300 ft?

Craig

Craig,

I dont think any of them can last at rated for any sustained period of time, other than for what they were designed to do in the first place (alot dont even make it that long!).

Top fuel racers are the extreme and they rebuild every pass.

They are not worried about longevity, just about winning.

Thats why they call it a competition.

csutton, what parts are those?

It is one thing to design a part and farm it out to the best builder/low bidder to manufacture it, and quite another to figure it out in the first place.

I never said the westers couldn't do it, I just said we have been first for years now and are way ahead.

If you guys want to be safe, hit the 1500 mark and I'll bow down!!!!

sleddy---does it matter--out here are parts developed and made to do things while the engine is in the truck and it's not just an o-ring tool, there's another tool out there to do something else and I know who bought possibly the first one about 2-3 weeks ago-and who bought a few orings tools a couple of months before that---chris

A majic orific tool?

You guys keep making rules up. Single charger, streetable(thats a laugh), engine has to be left in the truck to work on it, nothing over 150 psi, blah blah, no 12 cyl pumps, no Sigmas, no cut pistons, no billet heads.

But you all think Nitrous is ok.

Keith,

A neutral engine dyno would be sweet.

But Chris just admitted noone out there has ever taken an engine out!!LOL:D ;)

Sleddy, does it have to be an engine dyno? I'd want to do it on a chassis dyno. If you're talking 1500hp on an engine dyno, what would the number be on a chassis dyno?

Just for clarification...

Where is the line that seperates west coast and east coast? (I just need to know whos side I'm on)

Sounds like the DHRA classes defined... too funny!

LMAO at jtisdale!! :D Do we need to wear "colors" when we go to events?

Sleddy, I gotta put my two cents in here too ya know.

Since we all agree that Oregon is in the middle of the country, just where is this east / west line anyway?????????

Anyway, how abouts if you're so confident that the west coast can't build a 1000hp engine... . by ourselves, with no east coast parts, how about we put some money on it. You guys on the east coast build a truck, we'll build one on the west coast, we'll meet in the middle [Oregon] LOL and dyno, who ever wins, the other team pays the winning teams bills :--)

Hey Piers, I'll move from Maryland to B. C for a couple months, and donate my rash of parts for the event. I know you want my cylinder head anyways:p

I hate it when they talk in code. Hey what about the North/South issue. Forget east/west. Hey where is Oregon anyway? Oh yea ToolMan thats why they make torque wrenchs. ;) :D
