Competition cheater slicks or slicks

I dont beleive any trucks are. But I could be wrong. They are for massive fuel only and I dont think they would ever be close to streetable. They are starting to catch on with the pulling tractors though. But are MAJOR $$$$$$$$$$

Two lines go into an adapter on top of the single injector per cylinder. I saw one of schieds tractor engines at a show.

What would be the original application for the 12 cylinder pump?

I know I saw some photos of one... . Anyone got any of it?

V-12 engine for generators, maybe locomotives. I work with some guys that work on Generator sets. They say that the(at least some) v-12's fire two cylinders at the same time. This is how a 12 cylinder injection pump works on a 6 cylinder. About 2 years ago I took a picture off the shieds webcite to work and asked questions about it. I would love to see the holes in those injectors to flow that much fuel :--) .

Power companies use them. I also think there are some farm equipment that use them in Europe (Claas's I beleive). Some of the Big Bud tractors use large diesels. ALso some of the larger cranes use them too.

Ain't Kent Crowder's truck supposedly running a 12 cylinder rotary pump? I agree, I'd like to see the amount of fuel those things must inject. What's next, Cummins with a fuel system off of a Cat 3524 or something?

The west coasters thought he was, because they couldn't figure out how he is making in excess of 1000 HP.

Now that Scheids rail has been at the SEMA show this past week, I'm sure there is some head scratching going on!!LOL

Not V12, just 12V power baby. :) The idea is just for ease of fuel delivery. A six cylinder p-pump pushing 900cc is working alot harder than a 12 Cylinder p-pump pushing 1300cc. Makes for a more reliable, and easier to operate, diesel experience.

And most of that is trying to figure out how it's going to go down the track. all that aside the engineering on that dragster is really neat , something you would expect out of a person of Dan Schreid caliber , this doesn’t mean it will be able to go down the track any where near the hp potential of the motor, or ever hit the tree. meaning if you give it 30 seconds to spool , it might run a great time , but the other car will be on the return road by then. All in all they should be proud of their car. I recently acquired a project for another diesel drag racer , a 252 inch Bos Racecraft A/ dragster chassis . The projected race weight with driver is 1700 .

12 Cylinder Pump

The pump i saw at Scheids was a inline 12 cylinder pump not a rotory. So are there any trucks using this massive pump or tractors only?

I talked with a person at schieds this year about the pumps. According to the source, schieds buys a 12 cyclinder pump for a 12 cylinder engine they take the cam out of the pump, and have it reground to give the Pilot injection, for the performance applications. Its not really for a high volume of flow, but, by Piloting ( 2 injection events) lets the engine run a smoother on massive amounts of fuel. It addsa little to get the fire started, on the first injection, and the second one ads fuel to the already started combustioon process. it helps to reduce one big bang explosion into two stage smaller explosions.
