Hi im new to all this so hope im posting in the correst place :) i have a 96 12 valve with egr, the truck runs great but im wondering if theres any advantage to getting rid of egr or just leaving it alone? any advise is appreciated

Unless you change the intake mainfold, there will be little gain from removing the EGR. The EGR manifold has a fairly substantial restriction in the throat. I blocked the EGR on my '98 because it would open under pressure from the exhaust brake, lessening it's effectiveness.

Ditch that manifold and you will get lower egts and stop exhaust from going back into your engine. Win / Win!

I got a intake manifold for about $100. 00 ten years ago and removed the EGR and changed the manifold, super easy. The truck runs great and the EGR crossover pipe doesn't break which happened twice in the past. I also have a Pac Brake which works great. Every once in a while the check engine light comes on but it usually go's off.
